(Ryu's POV)

"Haven't seen you in a while. How've you been?"

"Fine."

"Suppose he was a friend of yours?" He asked, motioning towards Aimoto's house.

I nodded.

"I won't tell anyone you're here, but you have to be fast."

"Thanks, Hinata."

Hinata has been a police officer for years and years. We've had many run-ins and he's always been nice to me. Apparently he's the one the sent to stand guard at Aimoto's house.

I walked inside and immediately went downstairs. It was clear that the police and crime scene unit had been there prior.

"Hinata?!"

It was a minute before he appeared at the top of the stairs.

"Yeah?"

"You guys mess with his computers at all?"

"I don't think so. Think it's going to be chalked up to being just a home invasion gone wrong. No need to check the computers for that."

"Okay."

"You going to check them? It going to take long? Another guy is supposed to take over in an hour."

"Don't worry about it. I'll be gone before he's here."

"Alright."

Careful to avoid all the blood, I made my way over to his computers and sat down. I could easily tell that he'd spent hours, maybe even days, at his desk. There were empty energy drink cans, snack wrappers, food containers, and a bunch of other stuff.

I turned on his computer to and instantly guessed his password. Should've known he'd have a bunch of other barriers to get through. I rolled my eyes and easily got through them. For others, it'd be very difficult. For me it was easy.

Half of the shit in his system was coded and it would take me an hour or two to decode it all. I didn't have that time.

I looked around and found a flash drive. I downloaded everything I could onto the drive and shoved it into my pocket. That's when I noticed a notebook on the desk underneath some wrappers.

There were four words written on the notebook. Four words that were enough to make me tense up. Four words that changed everything.

"You get what you needed?" Hinata asked as I left the house.

"Yeah, thanks."

"Of course."

I had turned to walk away when he spoke again.

"I've known his family for a long time. They're good people. Whoever did this to him.....they deserve what is coming their way."

The four words on the paper appeared in my head and my hands clenched into fists.

(Aria's POV)

A few hours went by and Ryu hadn't returned. I wasn't worried about where he was, but I was curious.

"I'm going to step out for a minute." I told Aimoto's grandmother.

"Okay, Dear."

Yori had gone home, but Jun and a few guys stuck around to guard Aimoto's door. I walked around the hospital and somehow ended up in front of the stairwell. I climbed the stairs until I reached the roof.

That's where I found him. He was sitting on the edge of the roof with his feet hanging over the edge and he was holding a cigarette.

"Wondered where you went." I said, walking up behind him.

I knew better than sit beside him. He didn't like me being on the roof. Didn't like me sitting down on the edge either.

"How are you?" He asked, staring out at the city.

"Okay."

He nodded slightly.

I knew he wouldn't ask about Aimoto. I was more important to him. No matter what, I always came first.

"Where'd you go?"

"His house."

"Find anything?"

No response.

"How bad is it?"

No response.

"Do you think they'll come after him again? Try to finish the job?"

"Possibly."

"Who.....Whoever did this to him.....I...." I sighed and ran my hand through my hair as I closed my eyes.

I opened my eyes when I felt movement and found Ryu now standing in front of me.

"He's harmless, Ryu. He's harmless and someone did that to him."

He said nothing as he reached up and wiped a tear away.

"I want the people who did this to him to pay." I said as angry tears rolled down my cheeks.

I looked up at him just as it started to rain. He was staring at me, analyzing me.

"The past year has been amazing. It's been calm and peaceful. I love waking up every morning without having to worry. I love going to bed every night with you by my side. I love our life and I don't want to be the one that.....I don't want to....."

"You don't want to ask me to bring him back." He said.

My shoulders sank and I looked down at our feet. Then suddenly, he gripped my chin and forced me to look up at him as he backed me up against the nearest wall.

"Two." He growled out.

"What?"

"Two. That's how many times I've stopped killing for you."

We were both soaked from the rain, but we didn't care. We enjoyed the rain.

He leaned in close enough to where his lips brushed my ear as he spoke.

"I've stopped twice without you having to directly ask me to. Think I won't start again? All you have to do is ask, Tsuma."
("", Wife.)

I shook my head. "I can't do that, Ryu. The damage that that life has done to you......I can't do it."

He tangled his hand in my hair and crushed his lips against mine. It was a bruising kiss. One that had my tightly fisting his t-shirt in my hands as our tongues and teeth clashed together.

He pulled back once I became very well breathless and brushed his thumb across my bottom lip.

"Don't you know that seeing you hurt and sad does more damage to me than anything else?" He asked.

I gripped his shirt tighter in my hands and pulled him closer.

"I don't want to lose you, to lose...... what we have."

He cupped my face in his hands and pressed his forehead to mine.

"We won't. I swear to you, Koneko. I've never lied to you. I won't start now."

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath before opening them. I looked up at him as I prepared to ask him, and that's when I saw it and knew.

I didn't have to ask.
