"let's escape."
taehyung's ears had never heard anything more beautiful.
"escape with me. from our fucked up reality."
they drove along the highway with their windows open, breeze drifting through in waves of cool mist.
"woooooh!!" taehyung whistled, arms reaching out the window to feel the wind. it pushed him back against the frame of the car door, leaving him breathless and eager for more. he loved this feeling. jungkook glanced over softly and grinned, reaching out a hand to feel the wind as well.
in that moment, neither thought about anything else. all unimportant, difficult, and unnecessary thoughts were pushed out of their minds.
in that moment, they were just two boys, living their lives. drowning themselves in the feeling of bliss and in the comfort they found in each other.
"oh my gosh, tae!! let's get tattoos!!" jungkook pointed abruptly at a tattoo shop on the corner of a street as they continued down their road to nowhere. taehyung thought for a moment, then caved in, seeing jungkook so excited.
the tattoo shop was surprisingly quite modern, with succulents lining the doorstep and dark cupboards. there was even a small beverage station, where jungkook and taehyung helped themselves to some hot water and coffee. they studied the designs on the wall for a few minutes, not really finding interest in any specific designs. jungkook's eyes drifted over a few designs in the bottom corner and stopped on one specifically. it was a simple outline of a heart. then his face lit up with an idea.
jungkook explained his idea to the tattooist, sharing his thoughts on the design, and then waved taehyung over, who was still looking blankly at the wall.
"tae!"
taehyung turned towards the sweet voice, making his way to the tattooist at the counter.
"would you guys like to be tattooed in the same room?" they both nodded, then followed the tattooist (with arms covered in flower tattoos) dressed in a black shirt and black boots to the back room, shoes clicking on the wooden floor.
the room was pretty large, as the shop's interior was much larger than expected. matching lamps sat on oppositely placed desks. two large seats with adjustable components, similar to the seats from taehyung's dentist's, sat on the far half of the room. taehyung gave a nervous-looking jungkook a reassuring nod, settling down in the closest seat.
they watched as the tattooist sanitized the tools and his hands, preparing to put down the line work.
"are you sure you want to do this, tae?" jungkook glanced over to his lover again, eyes still uncertain.
"yes."
they had no words. it was beautiful. the tattoo was seemingly simple to the naked eye, but there was a deeper meaning to it, that no one but them could understand.
they thanked the artist and exited the shop, content with the tattoos inked onto their wrists. sure, it stung, but the stinging was a good feeling. the good kind of pain.
"i can drive, ggukie." taehyung opened his hand for the car keys, which jungkook placed obediently into his palm. "m'kay."
jungkook said he wanted to go to the beach.
they promptly ate some korean bbq at a nearby restaurant, then with content tummies, made their way towards the ocean. they were still in black pointed shoes and matching suits, but who cared? no one. exactly my point.
they threw off their shoes, leaving them forgotten in the sand behind them, racing each other to the shore, causing powdered sand to spray up gently from the ground in small clouds.
jungkook giggled, feeling the warm sand engulf his toes in a hug. he wiggled his toes in the sand, feeling the grains tickle him as they shifted. he was so focused on the movement and comfort of the sand that he didn't notice taehyung running into the water and leaning down.
he scooped up a handful of cold seawater, and all while cackling, threw it fiercely south, where jungkook was standing, receiving an offended gasp in return.
jungkook soon had a mocking yet scary expression plastered onto his handsomely chiseled face.
"no, you DIDN'T."
"no, it wasn't me!!" taehyung raised his hands up in surrender. "it was bob!" he pointed behind jungkook, making the poor naive boy turn.
once jungkook realized he had fallen for his boyfriend's sorry prank, it was too late. he felt a mixture of soggy sand and seawater slap his thighs. he groaned inwardly. "oh, you are SO getting it, kim taehyung."
he walked closer and closer to the said boy, making taehyung stumble backwards in fear. mad kookie was scary. taehyung held his hands out in front of him, shaking them along with his head, squealing slightly. "please!! no-haha-ah-gh-h" he started choking on his laughter as jungkook began to tickle his stomach.
