﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋
"let's escape."
soon both boys were stripped down to their white blouses and pants, soaked with water, skin and hair gleaming with sunlight and water droplets.
they laughed until their lungs burned and stomachs cramped, ran until they were breathless.
now they lay down on the sand, blouses slightly dried due to the yellow sun, now beaming above the horizon. their hair was tossled into waves, perfectly imperfect.
their smiles refused to leave their faces.
"i love you." taehyung said, out of an urging habit that only grew in his chest.
jungkook felt flowers blooming in his chest, stomach and cheeks burning. this was the first time they had confessed, but neither could deny even for a second that they were in love.
"i love you too," he replied, turning to face the beautiful boy beside him. taehyung brought his arms around jungkook and engulfed him in a hug, kissing his temple. he never wanted to let go of the boy in his arms.
the sun set, leaving the skies dyed with cherries, streaked with dancing purples and blues.
they watched the sunset, connecting their hands at the wrists, admiring their matching tattoos together. in a span of minutes, the bright sun was enveloped by the hungry sea, disappearing like it was never there in the first place.
they watched, laying side by side on the soft sand, as the sky darkened, soft blues converting to a bold navy, then deep purple. stars appeared, little sparks of life in the endless void of space.
"isn't it odd? how the night sky that we see is a photograph of the past?"
jungkook nodded.
"most of the stars we are looking at right now," taehyung brought his hand out to reach out to the colorful array stars, "are dead now. we just don't know it yet."
the two boys lay there together for hours, finding themselves unable to leave their spot on the beach.
"it's a shooting star!"
jungkook suddenly squealed, sitting up and pointing at a star in the night sky, which was indeed soaring above them. the star blinked and glowed with a magenta-purple aura, making it seem ethereal compared to the other unmoving, minuscule stars.
"hurry! let's make a wish."
they both closed their eyes, hands locked together, and made their wishes.
i wish that this feeling can last forever.
i wish that i can be with him forever.
but in the end, and as the star blinked out of view, they both knew. that nothing lasts forever, no matter how much you need it to.
