Chapter 31

*December 2014*

"ALICE!! Are you almost ready?", Lilly walked into my room.

"Yeah", I nodded.

"Then why are you still here? You should go downstairs! Aunt Maggie and Uncle Max have arrived already. Mom wants to start with the dinner"

It was Christmas today. Normally I loved this time of the year... But this year I wasn't really feeling the vibe.

"Okay, let's go", I said.

When I came into our living room I was greeted by my uncle and aunt.

"sweetheart! You have changed so much. It's been way too long", my Aunt hugged me.

"I missed you too Aunt Maggie!", I smiled.

"Hi uncle Max!", I said while hugging him.

"Where is your boyfriend Alice?", uncle Max winked, when we pulled back.

Awtch, I thought.

"Max!", my aunt hit his arm.

"Oooooh, right... I am sorry.", he said.

"No problem", I said, "I'm going to see if mom needs help with something."

How is it possible that my uncle didn't know about Justin and me? Did the man live on freaking mars or something?! I was having a bad day today, but now it was even worse.

"Mom, do you need some help?", I asked as I walked into the kitchen. She was standing with her back facing me.

"No, but thanks for asking.", she said, without turning around.

Damn it.
"Are you sure?", I asked carefully.

Something in my voice made her turn around and after she saw my face she came over to me. She took my face in her hands and asked: "what's wrong, Alice?".

"Nothing, I just want to help you!", I put a fake smile on my face.

"Don't lie to me... I am your mom. And moms see when something is bothering their child. So spit it out."

"It's just... Uncle Max asked where Justin was and I know he didn't mean to ask it but still... It felt like a punch in the face so I was hoping I could help you with something to distract me because I am afraid if not, I will start crying.", I said.

"Oh baby...", my mom said hugging me.

"I know it's stupid. I mean, I am the one who broke up with him, and it's been more then 5 months now...", my voice was weak, because I was close to crying.

"It's not stupid Alice, it's normal.. You have loved him for years. And you still do. You can't just get over someone you love that deeply in 5 months! And you think you are not allowed to be sad because you're the one who wanted space? That's even more stupid. You miss Justin baby, it's normal", my mom whispered.

"I miss him so much mom, it hurts!", I bursted out crying.

"I know baby, I know... Shhhhh", mom said hugging me tighter.

"Why don't you just call him, Alice? I'm sure he is waiting for a phonecall from you!", she smiled to encourage me while pulling back.

"Haven't you seen the news yet? He is all over the place. He's sleeping with all those girls...He doensn't miss me, that's for sure." I sighed deeply.

"But how do you know? He probably wants to make you jealous", my mom smiled.

"I don't know... Maybe I will call him next week or so..",
