"We're living the good life right now, Brooke", I said as I put on my sunglasses and laid back to tan.

"I know my dear, a really good life actually", she answered me.

"Sun, nice food, cocktails, swimmingpool, no boydrama, and my best friend! Oh yeah, and it's my 18th birthday. I can't wish for more", I smiled.

"Are you sure? You don't wish that a particular boy, whose name I won't say because I promised you I would shut up about this topic, was here?", she asked carefully.

"I'm serious Brooke, I'm totally over Justin", at least that's what I was telling myself.

"Okay, I believe you...I think" she hesitated.

"It's time to get dressed for your suprise, let's go back to our room.", Brooke smiled.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Okay, we're here! Open your eyes", Brooke smiled.
I was standing in front of this really fancy restaurant where all the celebrities came to eat, I had been here once. With you-know-who....
Don't think about that douchebag Alice! I said to myself.
"Faaaaaancy!", I laughed.
"Only the best for you", Brooke winked, "let's go inside".
We stepped through the door, and a waiter immediatly came to greet us.
"Goodevening ladies, did you book a table?"
"Yes we did", Brooke smiled.
"A table for two? On what name?"
"Yes! On Adams", Brooke politely answered.
"Ah I see, follow me please"
We followed the waiter through the restaurant to our table. It seemed like it was a busy evening tonight.
Our table was standing in the middle of the room, so everyone could look at us but we could also look at them so that was nice because we just liked to gossip.
When the waiter handed me over the menu he asked:
"Aren't you Alice Adams?"
"Yes, I am", I smiled. Although me and you-know-who weren't seen together in months, people still recognized me. I found that a little bit suprising.
"I think you're really beautiful", the waiter said before heading to another table.
"T-th-Thank you", I stuttered, but I wasn't sure he heard me.
"Is it me or was this guy flirting with you?", Brooke stated.
"Oh, Shut up and choose what you want to eat", I said before focusing on the menu in my hands.
After we had finished our meal we ordered dessert.
"So two times crême brulée for the two lovely ladies?", our waiter winked.
He wasn't bad to look at, at all...he was really handsome actually.
"Uhm yes please", I showed him my cutest smile. He smiled back at me and walked away.
"Oooh girl, you were totally flirting", Brooke laughed.
"What? No!", I said quickly.
"Yes you were", she said.
"Okay maybe a little, but it was just to see if I still had the skills to flirt", I laughed.As I was still laughing, I realised Brooke didn't join me anymore: she was staring at something behind me.
"Brooke, what's wr-"
"Hello Alice", a voice interupted me.
I was shocked. I would recognize this voice out of thousand voices. This couldn't be happening?
I took a deep breath and slowly turned around.
"Oh uh hi Justin", I nervously said.
"I was just sitting over there, eating, and all of the sudden I saw you and yeah, I just wanted to say happy birthday so uhm...."
"You remember?", I said. I know I was staring at him but I just couldn't stop it. He looked handsome.
"Ofcourse I remember", Justin awkwardly smiled.
"Alice maybe you should stand up so Justin can wish you happy birthday in a proper way", Brooke tried to help us.
Gosh, speaken of an awkward situation....
"Uhm yeah", I murmered while standing up.
"Happy Birthday, Alice", Justin smiled but his eyes weren't smiling with him.
He had taken my hand and gave me a sweet soft little kiss on the cheek.
Immediatly I felt shivers under his touch. I blushed.
"Thank you", I tried to smile back.
"I better get going now", he hesitated, still holding my hand.
"Yeah, you probably should", I cleared my throat.
"So uhm bye, enjoy the rest of your birthday", and with that he let go of my hand and walked away.
I sat back down in shock.
What the fuck just happened?
I just saw the man I so desperatly tried to forget.
8 months without seeing him and 2 minutes brought all my feelings back.
Life was so unfair sometimes, now I had to start all over again with letting him go.
"Alice!", Brooke snapped me out of my thoughts.
"Uhm yeah, I'm sorry.... Just excuse me for a minute, I need to go to the bathroom real quick", I quickly said. I needed to be alone for a minute.
I rushed to the bathroom and thank god it was really close to where we were sitting. I washed my face with cold water so I would regain my cool.
Why in the world did a simple human being have such a big impact on me? I hated it. And why did he seemed to be just fine? I hated it even more.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"Are you okay, Alice?", Brooke said carefully when I sat back down.

I noticed that the waiter just brought our dessert.

"Uhm yeah.. I guess.. It was just weird and awkward and painful but I'm fine", I looked down at my hands.

"Hey, I really didn't know he was going to be here... If I did I really wouldn't have brought you here", Brooke sighed.

"It's okay. I enjoyed this evening.", I forced to give her a smile.

"I'm glad. So now: let's just forget about it and finish our dessert so we can leave and go to you final suprise today", Brooke smiled excitedly.

Her enthousiasm was infectious and I wanted to forgot what just happened so badly that I tried my hardest to let go of my emotions. This was my birthday after all, and I was going to enjoy it.  So we quickly finished our Crême Brûlé, Brooke payed the bill and we left the building.

Off to my last suprise!
