*Ruby's POV*

"Is it this way?" Eve asked as we walked down one of the corridors that looked identical to the several others we'd already been down.
"Definitely." Saffron insisted.
Lana rolled her eyes. "You're the worst at directions, Saff. I don't trust you."
Everyone laughed apart from Saffron. "I'm quite good, actually. Honestly, I think it's this way."
Marley and I looked at each other and rolled our eyes, ready to be led to a dead end due to Saffron's usually poor judgement.

"Wait, guys." Eve stopped us outside of a classroom. "Two-one-two. Is this it?"
I peered through the door and frowned. "Christ. I hope not."
Saffron peered through from over my shoulder and groaned. "Well, there's definitely no fit boys in there!"

And she was right. We could see four students in the classroom.
One was a tall guy with an enormous nose who sat close to a short girl with dark hair and overgrown eyebrows.
One was a petite girl sporting black hair with blonde highlights, green eyeliner, purple lipstick and a face tattoo, and by the way she glared at the other three students around her, she did not look friendly.
The final one was a male with an oily face and messy hair who smirked as he saw the five of us staring through the window pane.
"He looks like a fucking creep." I muttered.
Marley nodded. "He really does."

"Guys." Eve got our attention as she locked her phone and put it away. "I've checked our timetable. It's definitely this one."
"Christ." Marley and I muttered together.
"Come on." Eve ushered us in.

The five of us wandered in to the classroom and sat on five seats in a row nearest the door.
The male and female who sat close together looked up and stared at us, the gothic girl didn't look up from the paper she was scribbling on, and the greasy guy stared at us and licked his lips.
"Definitely creepy." Eve added on to the previous conversation.

I sat down between Eve and Saffron, with Marley and Lana on the other side.

"So!" The girl with the monobrow clapped her hands together. "It looks like we're in the same tutor. I'm Megan."
Marley and I rolled our eyes at her extroverted and - on initial instinct - annoying personality, but Eve was the first to try and be nice.
"I'm Eve."
Saffron and Lana introduced themselves before Eve spoke up again. "And this is Ruby and Marley, too." She told her, nudging me in the process.
"Oh, wow. This is Rory, too." She gestured to the weird-looking boy with the oversized features and he gave us a half-hearted salute gesture. "He's my boyfriend. So don't be looking at him. Just kidding." She laughed an ugly laugh.
I took one look at Rory's strange face and chuckled. "I don't think you need to worry about that."
Megan's face looked confused at the comment and Eve spoke up quickly, "just because none of us are like that. Don't worry." She nudged me hard again.

"Anyway," Megan spoke again, tapping her pencil against the desk as she did, "are you sure you have what it takes to be here?"
"Excuse me?" I snapped.
"I mean, it's for very clever students this course. That's why we're here."
Marley and I exchanged a glance that caused Eve to shove me one more time.
"I'm sure we'll be fine." Lana replied.
"We'll definitely be fine. Do we not look clever?" I questioned.
"Well, I mean... it's hard to know if someone looks clever. But, I mean, I guess you don't." Megan shrugged.
"You're a dick." I snapped. Marley laughed out loud, Saffron couldn't help but giggle but Eve impatiently nudged me again.
"And you're a -"
Rory cut off his girlfriend's defence. "Don't worry, honey bun. They're not worth it. We know we're smarter than the other students, we don't need to prove it."
Megan nodded and the pair of them shared a cuddle before turning back to textbooks they had laid on the table.
The five of us exchanged confused and shocked looks at what had just happened, but we were quickly cut off.

"That was hot." The other boy said, licking his lips as he spoke.
"What?" I snapped, already impatient with the students we were surrounded by.
"The attitude on you. It's hot." Before I could respond, he spoke again. "And you with the blonde hair," he pointed at Eve, "I like how tall you are. And the blonde. You're really beautiful."
"Uh... thanks." Eve muttered, clearly creeped out but unable to reject a compliment out of fear of being impolite.
"And you," he pointed at Lana, "I like your curves. Curves equal big ass, right?"
I watched as Lana's eyes widened in shock and disgust at the boy. "Are you serious?"
"Yeah. I am. I'm Steve, by the way."
"Well, Steve," I piped up, "you're a creep."
"I'm only giving you compliments." He shrugged.
"We don't want them." Lana told him.
He held his hands up. "Fine."

"And what about you? With the black and blonde hair?" I called over to the other side of the classroom where the girl reluctantly looked up and glared at us. "What's your name?"
"Valerie." She answered bluntly.
"Valerie? That's cool actually."
"I don't like it when people talk to me." She hissed, grabbing headphones from her bag and pulling them on.
"That went well." I muttered when she couldn't hear anymore, and the other four girls laughed along.

The door swung open and an older man with pale skin and piercing blue eyes walked in and dropped several folders on his desk.
"So, you're my tutor then." He grinned.

"No fit boys then." Saffron muttered in a disappointed voice.
"Not even any other nice students." Eve added in an even quieter voice.
"This is going to be a fun year, isn't it?" I said in a sarcastic voice and groaned.

And then the door opened once more, and revealed a small huddle of boys.
"Ah! The rest of my tutor. I was told I was supposed to have fourteen students." The teacher clapped his hands together.
Saffron looked towards the door and smiled to herself. "Maybe it won't be that bad after all."
