Brynn Rawlings POV

During our drive we talked a bit more about my family. It has been some years since I last dated somebody. Once Korin was born she was and still is my main focus. Raising my child is worth more than some relationship that more than likely wouldn't last. Well, I would work a lot, and they would think that I am boring. Korin thinks that I am boring, but that's because I am her parent first.

"So when was your last girlfriend?" Jorja asked me.

"Genesis, she was before I slept with Sarah and got her pregnant. Genesis was 18 and I was 16. Yes she knew that I was that young at the time, but my mentality and how I carried myself made me seem older. I never got carded for anything, and that included some clubs. In most ways, I was like an escape for her. Long talks, late nights, just connecting on a different level than anybody in my life actually. Korin is actually one of the names we agreed on if we ever one day slip up. Now, Alise Jane is Genesis' middle name. She passed away when Korin was almost four months old. I believe in soulmates, and I believe that in life you can have many soulmates. She was one of them, and I'm glad that I was there for those years. Yes, it may seem like she shouldn't have been with me because of my age, but it happened. So I was eighteen years old and that was my last one." I told her.

"I'm so sorry. I bet she was amazing."

"She was. Just a damaged soul looking for love, and I gave that to her. She wanted to be held and loved. Even though I was young, I understood that. After her, I had some flings that didn't last a full week.  My baby girl is more important than someone who would look at what I have then try to use that to their advantage." I said.

"So I'm lucky?" she smiled gently pushing me.

I let out a little laugh and shook my head. "You caught my eye, and that is something hard for women to gain from me. Not many have this privilege of gaining that." I raised her hand and kissed the back of it. "Now, I have a feeling Mr. Hill is in there so do you want us armed or not?"

"Just you. Just keep him away because I tried to, you know, leave a few times, and it didn't work out too well. It seems like he is more scared of you, and I just want to grab our things and go." Jorja said. He is scared of me, and he should be. Not to many people live after meeting Hermes.

"Was that why that day I saw you in the principal's office with that bruise on your shoulder?" I asked her.She never talked about it, and never explained why she had that. Jorja didn't say anything. I just nodded my head and pulled my gun out the center console. "I'm not even going to ask if there was more than just that one bruise neither."

I texted Daxx to tell them not to bring any guns. They parked behind me, and stepped out of their truck.

"Grab as much as you can. Even if you have to leave some things, they will be replaced. Anything in that house that is in your name, take it out of your name. Bills, whatever it is. Try to get your mail sent to my house or a p.o box." I told her.

We got out of my truck and she had some bags to put their stuff in. when she opened the door, we all came in behind her, and Mr. Hill is just sitting on the couch with drugs and a gun on the table. Some examples of a father he is.

"What the fuck are you doing here?" he pointed the gun at me. I looked at Lorenzo and he went over knocking Mr. Hill out. Jorja looked at me and shook her head.

"What, I don't have the patience to deal with someone like that. Easier fix and my second option." I said shrugging my shoulders.

"Just come and help me please." she said.

"Watch him and keep an eye out on the door too." I told them.

We walked into their once shared bedroom, and it looks horrible. Looks like a grown man can't even keep his space clean. She started putting her clothes in bags, which didn't look like much. A good portion of her things is in my house.

"Can you move the dresser out a bit please?" she asked me. I grabbed the end that she wanted me to get and pulled it towards me. As I moved it I heard something fall.

"What's that?" When she lifted it, it a pretty big money box.

"I've been hiding, and saving some money for when the time was right to leave. Since he dealt his business here, it's hard to find time to get our things and leave. I had to hide it so he wouldn't take it or think that I was planning on leaving." She opened it and it looks like more than enough for a nice down payment for a really good apartment, and maybe even buying her own car.

"Baby girl, if he would have found that, he would have had a field day with your money. By the looks of it, you can have your own place if you so chose to. Depending on your credit, which only the U.S. does, you can get a pretty good car, and apartment. Also furnishing it too. Do you know how much there is?" I said.

"No, I just stashed some every time I could without him noticing." she closed the box, then placed it on the bed.

"I have a counter in my office, we can see how much that really is." I told her. I'm proud of her, and the effort she made to at least get herself and Luna out of this situation. I don't know if she would want to stay longer at my place if she knows how much it is.

"What are you thinking about?" she asked me. It caught me off guard because of me thinking. "Are you thinking that if I know how much is in here, I would leave."

"How about you get out of my head?" I wrapped my arms around her waist. "Yes. I normally don't speak on my feelings, but I like having you and Luna around. It's just Korin and I at home. Sometimes the guys come over with their families, but it's just us. I'm pretty sure Korin doesn't want Luna to go either. She thinks I'm boring."

Jorja smiled with her arms around my neck. I felt her nails glide on the back of my neck and my scalp, then pulled me down into a kiss. "You said you believe in soulmates right?" I nodded my head. "I do to. You've done a lot for my daughter and I, even though you opened your home for a safe space for us. Just like how Luna is attached to you, I am too. I'm a bit nervous and hesitant if you want us there, but it seems like you do. If we do become more than whatever we are now, I want us to talk about what we want out of our relationship if it goes that far. Luna is an extra bonus package that comes with me. Even my deadbeat baby daddy."

"I know, so is Korin, and Hermes, but we can go into more details back at my house. This room smells like fritos, and weed. Like plain fritos you don't eat that come with those other kinds of chips." I smiled. "I'm picky like that."

"Boss we got a problem!" I heard Lorenzo say.

"Lord please don't let me kill somebody today. It's been really good so far." I mumbled to myself. I'm sure Jorja heard me too.

"I hope not." she said as I walked out of the room.
