It was lunch on Monday and I was sitting with Cam. Nat had started to sit with us, but today she was sitting with a group of her other friends. She introduced me to them before and they're really sweet. They made me feel even more welcomed to the school. Cam and I were talking about an upcoming test in statistics that we had. We planned to study at my house tomorrow afternoon. I was laughing at something Cam said when I heard someone clear their throat behind me. Looking behind me, I saw Asher standing there. He didn't look very happy, but then again when is he happy?
"I want to talk to you, Brooke." He looks between Cam and I a few times, then glares at Cam before returning his attention back to me.
"Okay." I answer but make no move to get up.
"Alone." He emphasizes.
"Fine." I get up from my chair and walk behind Asher. I take a look back at Cam and he also has confusion written all over his face. Asher and I walk into the hallway and he takes a look around. There's a group of people at the far end of the hallway, but other than that we were alone.
"What did you want to talk to me about?" I asked as he turns his head back to me and holds eye contact.
"You haven't told anyone anything I've said to you about..." he trails off as he gets closer to me to whisper, "about the gang. Have you?"
"No, of course not. I know it's a secretive thing, you told me that." I tell him the truth. I haven't told anyone about a thing he said to me. Not dad, Ty, Cam, Liv, Damien or anyone.
"Okay. I believe you. I probably shouldn't but I do."
"You can trust me. I trust you."
"Do you really?" He scoffs.
"Yeah. I think I trust you a little too much for not even knowing you but for a month."
"That's stupid. You shouldn't fucking trust me."
"I know. Just believe me when I say I won't tell anyone anything."
"Okay. But first tell me something. Tell me why you know anything about the bloodhounds. How much do you even know?"
"I know their shipments are getting stolen. I know a couple people in the gang, and I know about their street races and illegal car sales." I'm not telling him anything else. This is information he already knows, and I don't want to tell him confidential information about my father's gang.
"Is that all you know?"
"Yes." I look him straight in the eyes and lie to him.
"I believe you." What the fuck did I do? I was about to reply when I saw someone walking by. Not just someone, but Josh. He walked straight up to us and roughly knocked into my shoulder.
"Brooke. I'm so happy to see you here!" He tries to go in for a hug, but I lean to the side.
"Why the hell are you here? How did you even get into the fucking school?" I angrily ask him.
"Just be happy to see me. Your father actually told me you were here." He smiles at me. It's a cocky and arrogant smile. I want to fucking beat him. It's also not rocket science to figure out that me, a seventeen year old girl, is currently in the only highschool Hooverville has.
"How the fuck do you know my father? Why would he even tell you where I am?"
"I saw him today at the dealership while I was buying a new car. He's quite the salesman, you know?" I take a look over at Asher to see if he's connected the dots. My dad working at the shop. Me knowing people at the shop. Me finding out about the gangs from people at the shop. He doesn't look at me though. He looks at Josh and he looks mad. Not the same mad he is around me, but he looks even more furious. His brows are furrowed and his mouth is in a thin line. He looks like he's half a second away from kicking Josh's ass.
