"Oh my God, what did I do?" I scrunch my face in pain not only from my headache, but from the thought of all the stupid shit I most likely did last night. The table I sit at with Johnson, Sammy, and Mallory is silent. No one says a word, instead they continue to stuff their faces with pizza. "Am I the reason why Gilinsky isn't here right now?"

Sammy gives Johnson a look then his eyes land on mine, "No, he said he was going out to lunch with Leigh."

"I thought they broke up." Mallory states from beside me.

"Who said that?" Jack places his slice of pizza back down on his plate and takes a sip of his water.

"Leigh told me they've been fighting a lot and stuff..." She shrugs innocently.

"That doesn't mean they're not together anymore." Sammy says.

Mallory shrugs again before picking up her diet coke.

"Okay back to the subject of what I did last night..." I quickly say before the silence starts up again. I'm surprised I even want to know, usually I'd just blow it off and act like it was nothing but for some reason I'm oddly curious why everyone's acting so awkward around me. I'm always the awkward one - not them.

"You didn't do anything." Jack forces a laugh. I clench my jaw and stab at my pizza. It must've been pretty bad if no one wants to tell me.

"Bullshit." I'm starting to get angry, "I just want to know, okay? I hate not knowing."

"We can talk about it somewhere else." Sammy assures me after looking around the pizzeria.

    "Why does it matter?"

Everyone ignores my question while finishing up their meals. I sigh loudly but let it go. They can tell me when they're ready...I'm not even sure if I'm ready to hear it myself.

"How was Mallory's?" Dad asks as soon as I step foot through the front door. I give him a tired smile and nod my head. I don't say anything because I know if I do I'll end up telling him the whole sleeping over at Mallory's was a lie.

He follows me into the kitchen as I take out the brownies I made yesterday morning. Right as I'm about to swing open the fridge to take out the milk he says, "We're all out."

    "Of milk?" I squeak.

"Yeah, I'm sorry, honey, I was gonna go out to the store right now to pick some up."

"No - that's okay, I'll do it." I tell him, "I can even take Violet on a walk on my way there." Dad looks at me suspiciously and it makes me feel like he knows what I actually did last night.

"Are you sure?" His tone is nothing but curiosity but I can tell he knows something is up.

    "Positive."

"Well okay, I'll go get her leash." Dad says, stepping out of the kitchen.

As soon as he walks away I whip out my phone to text Sammy.

You can't come over right now I'm taking Violet for a walk and picking up some milk

I don't know if picking up milk is such a good idea...

Why wouldn't it be?

Do you want me to come with you?

Will you tell me I did last night if you do?

Nvm, I'll just stay home.

I hate you.

Love you too!!

"Here you are!" Dad strides into the kitchen with Violet in tow. Her leash is attatched to her collar and her tail is wagging really fast. I guess she likes her walks.

"Thanks." I take Violet's leash from his hand and give him a small wave before walking out of the house. "Okay, Violet, don't go so hard on me today..." I start talking to the dog, "I have a major headache and it's my first time walking you."

I see her look up at me as if she understood everything I just said.

The first fifteen minutes that we're walking she's amazingly good to me. She doesn't pull too hard and only stops to bark at a squirrel twice. It was actually kind of peaceful to be next to her. As soon as we reach the grocery store all of that changes.

For some reason she starts getting over excited and barking at everything. My heart goes into overdrive as I hold tighter onto her leash. What has gotten into her? Then it hits me. I look up to where her nose is pointed and I see Gilinsky and Leigh strolling out of the store with a couple of bags in their hands. I frown.

Is that why Sammy hadn't wanted me to come here? So I wouldn't have to see them together? Violet's barks capture Jack's attention and I want to scream when he looks over at us. My face flushes and I can't remember how to breath. I suddenly wish that I was drunk again so I wouldn't be so nervous.

I recall getting a few sips of beer in and not even feeling any stress whenever Jack looked my way and smiled. I was completely calm. Why can't I be like that now?

"Hey!" Jack shoots me a small wave but doesn't even bother to come over to where Violet and I stand. Instead, he looks away from me and walks to Leigh's car with her. I get a sinking feeling in my stomach. If this was any normal day I know for a fact that Jack would've come racing over here whether he was with Leigh or not.

I must've fucked up pretty bad if he didn't even wanna come over to pet Violet. I decide to myself that after I pick up the milk and walk Violet home, I'm going over to Johnson's and forcing him to tell me what he knows.

I have to know how I got into this mess.
