Chapter 18 [a bit of an extra]
Kayn POV
        
          I drum my folder with my fingers as I wait for Kronos to climb in.  He climbs in and wordlessly begins driving.

         “We’re going to Mr. Black’s office on Lakewood avenue. “I say lowly.  He is supposed to already know this, but I remind him anyway.
        
        He nods before hesitating, debating whether or not to speak his honey eyes find mine in the mirror.  I beat him to it.  “is there something you need?”

      “The team.” Kronos sighs. “We’ve both encountered a fallen which proves their existence.  So why do you keep this from the team? Isn’t this something they are supposed to know.”

       “It doesn’t make much sense to tell them- “

       “So what? Isn’t it their right to know that they exist?”

      I smile as I look out the window as the trees rush by. “I suppose you’ve talked to the team, right?” he nods. “then you know how they think.  They all believe that fallens are just a myth. Even if both me and you believe something else how can we prove them wrong hmm?  Fallens will never admit to being Fallens so they can be shipped into a lab to be dissected.  Hell, even I wouldn’t do that.  They might be evil, but they aren’t stupid.  Okay. Let’s say one does admit, do you think the heads of the big police organizations will leave the case in our hands so we can prove a few private detectives conclusions wrong?”

          Kronos sighs. “So, we are absolutely powerless, huh?”

           I nod, I wasn’t planning on keeping this from him from the beginning.  I was waiting for him to find out. If he didn’t figure out what he was getting into by being my assistant in these cases his life could be in fatal danger.  I was quite used to this variable, this was my life, I was born into it, but he wasn’t, and I wouldn’t like to have him jump into something he couldn’t control.

           He pulls over into the parking lot and I leave my folder on the car seat as I dismount. 
           I give him a faint nod as we walk into the elevator and walk out to his office. I knock.
