CHAPTER 7: Promise

The three men's conversation ended when Byul woke up with their hushed voices, Taehyung deciding to call it a night so they all could finally rest. Hoseok went to his own car, waving goodbye at the three. Jimin was supposed to ride with Taehyung back to their shared apartment like they usually do but the ash grey dancer refused, saying he had a business to be done for the rest of the dawn. The latter just brushed him off with a wave as he is still busy taking care of his drunk sister.

Taehyung was supposed to only drop his sister to her apartment she's sharing with Jiwoo, but decided to stay after finding out that her friend also had an appointment. There is no way he's leaving his drunk sister alone in their apartment.

He helped her out of the car and into the tiny apartment inside her bedroom. After successfully settling his sister in her bed, he entered the other bedroom beside hers, immediately plopping down on the soft surface and basking in the very familiar and comfortable flowery scent he got used to.

It's almost four in the morning yet he couldn't sleep. His mind has been filled with concerned thoughts about his sister and the idea that his two friends had suggested earlier – asking Nari's former best friend's help in finding the ones who killed their family.

The peaceful quietness surrounding Taehyung was disturbed by the sound of keys and the opening and closing of the main door of the apartment. If it wasn't because of the hush whispers of a familiar voice from the living room, he would have been alarmed by the sudden intrusion. The next minutes were filled with the sound of soft thuds coming from the feet from the outside of the room, Taehyung carefully listening. He wonders how she would react if she sees him lying in her bed without her permission. He hopes she would be fine with it, though.

Suddenly, the door knob spun and the door to the bedroom opened, the person Taehyung's been waiting for since he got here making her way inside the dark room.

Jiwoo is not expecting the sight of a man lying in her bed the moment she turned the lights on. As a result, she squealed and threw whatever she has in her hands to the stranger – a pair of 5-inch stilettos she just wore.

"Jiwoo, what the fuck?" Taehyung shrieked lowly, careful not to wake her sleeping sister next door. He thankfully managed to dodge the deadly pointed heels of the shoes thrown at her or else his eye would have probably been stabbed to blindness.

"I should be the one saying that," the girl retorted with gritted teeth, eyes widening in horror as she can still feel the slight panic and fear in her chest. "Taehyung, what the fuck?! You scared the shit out of me, I thought you were a fucking rapist."

"Oh my God, I'm too handsome to be a rapist. If ever, I would probably be the one getting raped and not the other way around."

Jiwoo rolled her eyes, not even bothering on making a comeback comment as she knew he would always find a way to turn the favor in him. She only gave a disappointed sigh and started making her way to her closet to grab her pajamas.

"What's that sigh supposed to mean?" Taehyung asked, now sitting on the bed while resting his back on the cold wall.

"Nothing. You're the one giving meaning to it."

"God, Jiwoo. It's ass o'clock and you're already being mean to me."

"Maybe if you didn't scared me to death I wouldn't be like this towards you," Jiwoo replied, giving the man a glare before heading to her small bathroom. "I'm taking a quick shower and I'll expect for you to be gone when I'm finished."
