I slowly picked her up and she naturally wrapped herself around me like a little monkey.

"Daddy?"

"We have to go. Do you want to go to Aunt Maggie's house for a little while." She silently nodded her head as I went down the stairs.

After strapping her in her seat, I drove so fast, I'm surprised a cop didn't pull me over. Those same words kept coming back to me. I don't know exactly what she meant, but I'm never planning on finding out.

"Come on, Cami." She wrapped her arms around my neck as I walked up to Maggie standing in her doorway. Maggie plucked my daughter from my arms and nodded at me. A silent form of 'she's fine'. During the car ride, I had to call her. Either that or I'd start breaking down.

Without my kid in the car, I drove even faster. Must be around twenty over the speed limit. I almost clipped some old lady's car.

When I finally got to the dorm parking lot, I ran. Ran, even though my entire body is aching. The door opened before I got to the top of the steps. Someone must have been watching through a window.

A short, blonde girl opened the door. Her hair was messed up in a long ponytail. I'm guessing that one is Kelianne.

"Thank God." She muttered. I stepped in as she closed the door. "The first week, she was eating everything, listening to a bunch of sad R&B, and eating some more. But now, I haven't seen her eating at all. She stays in her room unless she has a class, and she ditched a few of those. She's never even been late for a class or she thinks she'll combust or something. There is something really wrong here." Tears appear in her eyes as she talks. They seem like more of family.

Nate walked out of a door and points to Gabby's. "Fix it." He mouths to me. I sigh and stand in front of her door. I softly knock.

"Gabby, it's me." I announce. When nothing is heard from the other side, I try again. "Baby, we're worried about you."

Silence.

"Babygirl, I'm sorry. I lost it and I didn't mean to. I didn't mean what I said. I want this to work and sometimes people argue. We can work on it together, okay?"

Silence again. But eerily silent. The Gabriella I know would never just let people worry about her like this. She's try and make everything look okay before she'd let someone know it's not. Gabby hates when other people worry about her. A pit in my stomach formed.

"I'm coming in." I slowly turned the doorknob. The door freaked softly as it opened, but when I looked in, she wasn't on her bed. I took a step in. As my eyes trailed to the floor, my stomach completely dropped.

Dark curls were spread out on the light blue fuzzy carpet she had on the foot of her bed. I took a wary step closer and swallowed roughly. That's her hair. Forgetting all caution, I walked to the foot of the bed. Kelianne screamed.

And there she was.

Laid out. On the floor. Face down. A bottle of purple sleeping pills spilled out near her head.

Her shallow yet heavy breaths filled my ears as I crouched down next to her. Turning her over, her tear stained cheeks were red. Her eyes opened slowly as she looked at me. Those brown eyes seemed to lull her asleep. Her lips parted when she saw me.
