Chapter 11

Scared of what is happening to Sarah. I ask her where she is.

"Sarah where are you?"
"Ronnie"

Just like that the call cuts.

"Ronnie, the who**e house owner, Sarah what have you gotten yourself into"

I drive to the only place I know a disgusting guy like Ronnie has. When I park my car outside I run for the inside immediately running into Ronnie

"You bastard"
"Remember where you are Eli my boy, don't forget where you are"

I let go of his shirt.

"Where's my sister?"
"She was with paying customers, they guys must have mistaken her for one of the girl"

Guys, oh my God Sarah what was she even doing here.

"Your sister owes me money for she pis**d off, I gotta pay back fifty grand by tomorrow or I'm dead she had to pay me back somehow"
"I'll give you your money where is she"
"Now you're talking, she's in 209"

I run for the room and find Sarah naked and unconscious on the bed drugs by her side. I grab a clean sheet from the drawer and put it around her carrying her out of the room.

"Where's my money pretty boy"
"Follow me"

I head to my car and put Sarah at the back.

"Here"

I write him a cheque.

"$100 000, aww you shouldn't have"
"Leave my sister alone"

I get in my car. As I drive off he shouts.

"The girls will miss her so much"
"Sc***w you"

I drive off to the hospital, I stay with her after the doctors admit her. She's properly cleaned and put in a hospital room.

"Elijah, Elijah"

Huh, I've just been woken up by Sarah I the hospital room.

"How are you feeling"

She immediately starts to cry. I stand up and put my arms around her.

"Shh, shhhhhh, hey hey you don't have to worry about that anymore I've payed those bastards you don't have to go back to that place"
"Thank you so much Eli"
"It's my obligation you don't have to thank me"

She looks at me pleadingly.

"I hope you haven't told anyone"
"No and that's why you're going to tell me everything from the start how long have you been going to that place?"

She looks at me then at the window her gaze distant her voice terrified.

"About two weeks, it all started when I went with some girls for a bachelorette party, some old guy was hitting on me I didn't like that he got handsy so I kind of broke his nose"

"And why did you end up working for Ronnie"
"With the way I was dressed, I'd pass for a hooker. Ronnie's exact words after beating me up where you will work for me since you like to dress like a hooker it's time you became one"

Disappointed I ask her scared to hear her answer.

"You actually slept with customers"
"It turns out the guy I punched is Ronnie's boss's friend who was in town from Columbia. The man demanded $200 thousand from him or threatened to stop business deals"
"That isn't the answer to my question Sarah"

She lets out a long breath sighing.

"Yes I had to, to pay back the money faster I had to go to rich guys houses for the past two weeks"
"How many?"
"Eli come --".

She tries to speak but I cut her off with a cold glare

"How... Many?"
"Nine, alright nine are you happy"
"Of course not, why would you even think that why didn't you come to me for help".

She looks at me seriously.

"You bought me a $250 thousand dollar house, the convertible I asked for. You pay my bills since I haven't found my teaching job yet. You pay for a lot of things so I just felt like it would be a burden"
"That I'd gladly take, you shouldn't have gone through all that had you come to me for help just like Ciara, you two are so stubborn your egos will get you killed is that what you want?"

I just realized that I'm raising my voice.

"I'm sorry about that"
"You don't have to be sorry for bieng right, I was just trying to prove myself to mom its hard when your younger brother is smarter, richer and many more"

I get up.

"Jesus Sarah that's no reason for you to distance yourself from me, I am your brother. I'm supposed to look up to you not you being jealous of me"
"I know, I'm sorry I haven't been the ideal sister and I haven't been there for you when you needed me"

I sit back down, take her hand and squeeze it tight

"Family is important Sarah, your mother. Your sisters, me and grandma. We all care about you so much. It hurts us when you're away and even more when you act like you don't care"..

She looks at me surprised.

"I've noticed the way you talk to Mom, you love her as much as she loves you and the stupid words you said yesterday. You didn't mean them, look I won't tell anyone about all of this but promise me one thing"
"What's that she asks me"

I shoot her a wide smile and respond.

"You have to come back home, to our family. Apologize to mom, Ciara, Sofia, Lilly, Grandma and to me"
"I know, as soon as we head home tomorrow I will"

I remember something.

"And to Emily".
"For what?" she asks me.

I know it was her so I just spill the beans about it.

"I know it was you who tried to turn me against Emily"
"I'm really sorry about that, I never knew Sophie was hiding a secret from you"

I tell her what Sophie did.

"Sophie was pregnant for a senior at her school, some guy named Dylan. After she found out he's looks and not money, she made a quick trip home to sleep with me so that I believe it's my child"
"How'd you find out".

"Dylan reached out to me, it's sad that she didn't keep the baby Dylan was so hurt".
"It's sad really, call everyone home for a meeting Eli I need to talk to them"

Will Sarah be welcomed by the rest of the family.
