I'm scared, I'm so scared what happened to the guy who knew no fear.

"It's okay to feel like this my love, she is your mother after all"

She puts a hand on my shoulder.

"She'll be okay, she has to be there on our wedding remember"

Wedding, could she have seen the ring box.
Maybe she did.

"Wha....how did you--i was going to wait till later after dinner but-"
"Wait for what?"

Are you kidding me, she didn't see it. I love that she already knows she's the woman I want to spend the rest of my life with.

"I thought you saw this"

I pull it out of my jacket making her put a hand on her mouth to stop her from screaming I think. Despite what's happening, where we are. I force a smile

"Yeah, this"

Tears start to stream down her face.

"I want to spend the rest of my life with you Emily, I wanted to tell you this at dinner but"
"Eli, I love you so much, I want to spend the rest of my life with you too"

Some joy comes to my heart as I put the ring around her finger. We hadn't realized we got the attention of people around who are suddenly applauding.

The doctor approaches us.

"Your mother is out of danger sir"

I pull the doctor in for a hug, he returns it and pats my back.

"Thank you doctor"

We head I my mother's room.

"Don't scare me like that.

She puts her arms out to hug me.

"You're not allowed to scare me like that alright"

Emily comes in for a hug as well.

"So, what happened?"
"I was blind, head lights where on full beam for this oncoming car"
"Where is he now"
"He avoided my car, unfortunately he got away as I crashed"
" As long as you're perfectly safe, I'm alright with that"
"We're very happy you're alright mom"
"thanks my dear, how's the pregnancy going"

We look at each other before Emily touches her belly.

"great, it's absolutely amazing"
"Ahh, I see you can't wait to have your own children right"

Both Emily and I fail to answer blushing before my mother.

"Ohh come on, I want many grand babies, little girls and boys running around the house always lights up a family"
"we're ready to give you plenty grand children mom"

I hold her hand.

" I'd like to tell you something mom, Emily and I are getting married"

"took you long enough, what have you been waiting for all this while, keeping this beautiful girl waiting"

Emily tucks a strand of hair behind her ears.

"your approval obviously, i was going to do it tonight but Emily ended up seeing the ring"

"actually I didn't see it, Eli thought I did and ended up removing it"
"whatever, I'm just so proud of you two for finally making this decision"

I hug my mother with tears of joy.

"thanks Mom I really appreciate it so much"

She trails off.

Emily asks, will my mother explain the fact that her and dad divorced because he hit her a few times.

"Elijah's father and I separated because we didn't agree on certain things"

Emily closes her moth after hearing what I just said

"I'm so sorry about that mom I never knew"
"It's a pain my family and I prefer not to talk about"

"Oh it's quite alright my dear, I know you meant well by wanting to know almost everything about your future husband's family"

We sit in her room talking about how we will begin to plan the wedding. Both my mom and Emily fall asleep on my lap. I kiss mom's forehead then carry Emily to my car.
As I place her down she wakes up.

"I'm sorry did I wake you"
"Exactly, but I don't mind as long as you make it up to me"

"Now that I can do, i respond with a mischievous grin on my face"

I kiss her lip tenderly and loving. Holding her close, my hands on her hips.

"Hmm, this is something you must have missed"
"Why do you like to entterupts such beautiful kisses"

For the next few minutes we share deep kisses before we finally head back home.

"So are you going to sleep already?"
"It's 10:21pm Eli, if I don't sleep now, what time will I huh"

I close my eyes and boom, she pecks my lips.
