Trigger Warning: Light themes of sexual assault (not descriptive).

Second week in a row of me uploading on time? Who am I??? A responsible adult! (Sometimes). Anyway, I'll keep it short. Once Upon A Storm (header image is the cover!) is out THIS SUNDAY! I have a link in my bio for the pre-order, as well as a link to book one, Once Upon A Tear. You'll get to know Danika's ex-girlfriend Lexi in this chapter, so please don't hold back in the comments with your thoughts. Thank you so much for all of the support on this story<3  It's truly one of my favourite books I've ever written so it means a lot to me seeing people enjoying it. In Canada it's a long weekend, so have a great long weekend if you're from here! If not, still have a great weekend! - Amy

Danika regretted agreeing to hanging out with Lexi the moment they walked out of the hotel. Lexi had immediately tried holding her hand, making her awkwardly pull away and stick her hands in her pockets. Lexi had also decided for everyone that they'd be eating McDonald's for dinner.

Apollo watched with a frown as he walked ahead, opening the door to the fast food restaurant. "So Lexi," he started, making the woman look at him. "Are you going to university as well?"

Lexi nodded. "I'm studying science. What about you?"

"Classics," Apollo answered, letting the door close behind him. They made their way over to the empty cashier.

"Can you even get a job with that?" Lexi asked.

Danika rolled her eyes. "Of course you can."

Lexi shrugged as her eyes scanned the menu that was also written in English. "I don't know. I always thought it was one of those useless degrees that don't mean anything, like fine arts."

Apollo flinched at her response. He looked at Danika, but her expression didn't change. He wondered if Lexi knew that Danika loved the classics and art.

"You realize my other major is going to be Classics, right?" Danika said before placing her order.

Lexi shrugged. "Yeah, but you're going to be a lawyer anyway so it doesn't matter."

Apollo's hand clenched into a fist as Lexi placed her order and then left him for last. He ordered and paid for everything. He didn't mind, but Lexi hadn't even questioned it or thanked him. Apollo volunteered to wait for the food and carry it to the table, leaving the girls to find a place to sit and speak alone.

Apollo made sure that Hermes was nearby, keeping watch from afar to make sure Danika was safe when he wasn't right next to her. He glanced back into the restaurant and saw Danika laughing at something Lexi had said. He was starting to worry. Danika had dated this woman for a reason. Lexi was attractive and could give Danika a normal life. On the other hand, Lexi seemed very judgemental and controlling. His number was called, snapping him out of his thoughts, and he grabbed the tray with all of the food before walking toward the table.

"You can't be serious," Danika's mouth was wide open.

Lexi laughed. "Yup, four months pregnant now. Apparently they got hitched so Brenda's dad wouldn't kick her out. He's living with them now."

"Jesus," Danika muttered before Apollo placed the food down. "Thank you for getting this," she smiled at him.

"No problem," Apollo returned the smile. His eyes shifted to Lexi, but she was looking at Danika.

The three ate in silence for the most part. Apollo watched Lexi through narrow eyes. Something felt off to him, but he wasn't sure if it was just his jealousy making him feel that way. He also watched Danika as they ate. She wasn't as relaxed, which worried him more. Does she still have feelings for Lexi?
