i laid comfortably on my seat while reading a sports magazine. the sun beamed on my tan skin, forming sweat on my forehead. this was the first time in three months i could relax without worrying about someone's life. i could release all the stress and peacefully relax on the balcony of my apartment.
that was until i heard a knock on the door.
groaning with annoyance, i dropped my magazine to the floor and made my way to the door. swiftly opening the door, i looked at the figure
jaeho.
"taehyung! how's my favourite guy?" he asked cheerfully, walking into my dwelling. he was my uncle, he would occasionally visit to check up on me.
"why are you here?" i asked, watching him walk onto the balcony. i followed him, leaning against the doorframe and crossed my arms. he averted his direction from the view onto me.
"what? i just wanted to see my favourite nephew!" he exclaimed dramatically. i kept my look, knowing he only came here because he needed something.
"what's the issue you need help with?" i asked.
"wha-" he cut his own words, looking at me with shock. "i..wanted to see.." he sighed, giving up, "okay, i need your help."
"of course, you do. what it is," i asked, smiling slightly.
jaeho cleared his throat and spoke, "you know how i'm the manager for that singer?" i nodded. he looked away from my eyes, i could see him hesitating.
"and?" i insisted. jaeho grabbed my drink, taking a big gulp. he looked at with serious eyes and sighed tiredly, he said, "i'm in deep shit..i don't know what to do."
"what happened?" i asked. he took another sip, placing the drink down.
"nothing, i just want more help on my side. it's hard doing everything, i need more help, you know?"
i didn't reply, looking at him with slightly confused eyes.
jaeho sighed again, he asked, "i'm asking you to protect her."
"no," i immediately said, sitting on my seat. jaeho groaned in frustration, he looked at me as i rested my legs and continued reading my magazine."
"please?" he asked again.
i ignored him.
"so you're saying you won't protect mae aera just because she's a celebrity?"
i lowered my sunglasses and eyed him, "i don't do celebrities."
"$2000 per week," he quickly said, standing in front of me with his arms crossed. i closed my eyes, growing annoyed by the second. i rose from my seat and stood tall against him, "look, no amount of money is going to change my mind. ask someone else like jungkook or jin."
"well, jin was interested but we heard you were the best," jaeho said.
i scoffed and looked away, "that's not true."
there was a pause, he spoke again.
"taehyung, please. aera is a beautiful and bright young lady. please, i don't want her to get hurt. i told her about you and she really wanted you to come. she needs you, taehyung. please.."
i looked away, silently watching the waves of the ocean. knowing he wouldn't stop bugging me, i gave in and nodded.
"fine," i breathed out.
jaeho grinned and moved forward to squeeze me tightly. he beamed with joy, "thank you, thank you!"
"okay, okay," i said, pulling away from his hug. i looked at him and raised a finger, i said, "but..i have one condition."
jaeho nodded insistingly and said, "absolutely, anything!"
i smiled.
"$4000 per week."
