i wrapped my arms around aera and pushed her to the ground. she let out a scream as we landed with a thud. a brief moment of anxiety rushed through me.

who got hit?

but when i felt a sharp pain on my shoulder, i knew it was me.

thank goodness.

the crowd went hysterically insane, rushing around in their seats as they tried to run out. i looked beside me to see aera laying on the floor with a terrified look in her eyes. many stag people started crowding her, yelling things like, "go to commercial! aera, are you okay?" i heard the award directors screaming, averting their cameras away from the stage. as more people started crowding around us, i realised i lost track of jin. i looked past the staff's legs in an attempt to find him. my eyes widened when i saw him run through the basement door.

shit, he's getting away.

i have to find him, i can't let him get away.

slowly, i started getting up to run after jin but was instantly stopped by the staff. they pinned me down to the ground, preventing me from moving. "we got him! get security! call the police," they yelled simultaneously. i could hear the distant yells coming from aera, she was saying, "what are you doing?! he didn't fucking shoot me! let go of my bodyguard!"

but the staff seemed oblivious to aera as they kept yelling, "he's got a gun!" they tried taking the gun away from my hands by force, but i didn't budge. i grunted in pain as more blood started seeping through my suit, quickly dripping onto the glass floor.

"stop!" everyone stopped as they turned their heads to see jaeho and junsoo rushing towards me.

"he didn't shoot aera! fucking let him go!" he yelled, looking over everyone with a threatening expression. the crew hesitantly released me. i took this chance and abruptly stood up, feeling instantly dizzy. i shook it off as my only thought was to find jin.

i'm not letting him get away.

i quickly pushed through the crowd and made my way towards where i last saw that bastard.

the basement.

"jin!" i shouted, running at full speed as i tried ignoring the aching pain inflicted on my shoulder. my vision started blur and slight black spots started appearing in the corner of my eyes. i was losing too much blood. but i kept going. nothing's going to stop me from arresting that man.

i was now standing in an underground parking lot. he must be hiding somewhere. i slowly walked around the area, carefully looking for any signs of movement.

"jin! come out and face me, damn it!" i yelled, tightly holding the gun in my other hand. my ears perked when i heard laughter from the other side. of the parking lot.

jin..

the said man walked out from behind a large pillar. he wore an evil smirk, one of which i've never seen on him before.

"hello, taehyung. enjoyed the show?" the older man asked me. i gritted my teeth in anger, there were pent up emotions ready to unleash. with a quiet voice, i asked, "why are you doing this."

a laugh escaped his mouth, he replied, "what do you think, tae. do you think i would turn down an offer to kill the most popular singer? her sister offered so much money, i couldn't resist."

i frowned, my thoughts clouded around jiae. that night when she confessed it was her who tried to kill aera. it was jin who she hired. i just couldn't believe it.

"and when i found out you were the one protecting aera, i wanted to kill her that much more," jin said quietly, playing with his gun.

"but why? why would you betray me like this? you were my friend," i asked with disbelief. jin's smirk was quickly replaced with a dark scowl, he said loudly, "you think i betrayed you? don't make me laugh, taehyung. we all know how you fucking left me!"

i looked at him confused, "what are you talking about?"

"stop fucking acting like you don't know. when you got appointed as the new bodyguard, you left me to rot in that training centre. do you what it's like to be treated like shit? treated like second best? everyone loved you...you were their favourite," jin spoke the last words quietly, looking down at the ground.

my eyes never left him. i was more than taken back. i spoke quietly, "how come you never told me this? i could have helped you.." i let out a sigh, this was all my fault.

"help me? are you fucking serious?" jin asked in an accusing tone, "you can never help me and you never will!" he charged towards me and threw a punch, i tried to dodge but was too slow. his fist collided with my face, making my head snap backwards.

i fell the ground, hitting the ground hard. the gunshot wound in my arm didn't help. everything just seemed to get more blurry.

jin stepped beside me and lifted his foot, smashing his heel against the wound on my shoulder. i let out a sharp cry as his foot dug into my skin. the pain was unbearable as tears started pricking down my cheeks.

"do you feel that taehyung? that's how i felt all these years!" jin shouted as he stepped back, releasing his foot against me. i opened my eyes to see his blurry figure standing there. there were black spots starting to appear in my vision, i was loosing too much blood.

jin held his gun aimed towards me. from then i knew, this was the end.

it seemed as if life flashed before my eyes. i saw my dad, my friends at the agency, my new friends including kitae and jaeho. the last thing i saw was aera, smiling at me.

i'm sorry, aera. i wish i could have spent more time with you.

jin clicked the gun into place, his finger on the trigger, "goodbye, taehyung."

B A N G !

the smile on jin's face slowly disappeared. the gun slipped out of his hands and dropped to the floor. it seemed as if life escaped jin's body as he suddenly dropped to his knees and collapsed onto the ground. i averted my attention to see jae standing behind him, holding a smoking pistol in his hand.

i couldn't believe it, jae saved my life.

"goodbye," jae uttered.

breaking news!

mae aera was nearly shot at tonight's oscars!

the prime suspect is kim seokjin, ex-bodyguard who used to work with kim taehyung! seokjin was killed by one of aera's staff and anyone related to this man is being questioned.

kim taehyung who was called the hero of the night is now in critical condition, hoping to recover soon. aera's manager has cancelled all her upcoming shows and have said that she will be taking a break from the show business.
