"we meet here today to honour the life of mae jiae. we give thanks for her life and ask god to bless her now that their time in this world has come to an end. every one of us has been affected by her passing. her life mattered to us all. together, let us open our hearts and commemorate the impact mae jiae had on us."

the soft rays of light shone through the coloured glass of the church. i stood by the entrance, hands kept in front of me. i watched as the priest started the commemoration. people were dressed in similar black clothing. i averted my attention to aera who was seated in the front row. she sobbed quietly into her hands, junsoo wrapped his arm around her in a comforting manner.

"i would now like to invite the family to share some remarks about mae jiae."

everyone watched as junsoo slowly walked up the podium. he took a deep breath, holding the mic close to his mouth as he started speaking.

"jiae was a good friend of mine. we helped each other in difficult times. she was always a happy and friendly person. we will deeply miss her. thank you, jiae. rest in peace."

next up was jaeho.

"i remember the first time I met jiae. she wore a very large grin on her face as she showed me her sister's talent. she was the reason why i got to become aera's manager. thank you so much, jiae. i know sometimes people seemed to brush you aside but trust me, you were just as important as anyone on this team. god bless you."

he exited the stage, sitting back down with a grim expression. the next person was none other than kitae. his lip trembled as he struggled to get his words out.

"jiae was my beautiful mother. i looked up to her, she was my hero. i'm so sorry you left, mom. i really miss you. i love you," he spoke, looking down at his hands as tears became spilling out frmo his cheeks. junsoo got up and consoled him, bringing him back to his seat.

the priest held the microphone, "the last speaker, please."

aera slowly rose up from her seat, she walked slowly to the podium. my heart cried for her, she was going through the hardest time of her life. she stood facing the audience. her eyes wandered around the room until she caught my eyes. she briefly looked at me before breaking the contact.

"i would like to thank everyone for being here today. we all loved and cherished jiae. i just...i don't know what to say. jiae was my best friend, we did everything together..."

she couldn't help but let the little droplets of tears escape. she used her hands to wipe them away, only to have more tears rolling down her cheeks.

"i'm sor-rry," the female chuckled into the mic, wiping her tears. "i'll just leave with saying that i love you, jiae. thank you for everything."

the audience clapped as she finished.

"that concludes our commemoration for the death of mae jiae. may she rest in peace. amen."
