Mary woke up with a start. The house was deathly quiet. It was pitch black outside. Mary heard scuffling in the house, she sneaked out her room and watched The Boss as he slipped into his room. 'Well at least he's home now', Mary thought to herself and fell asleep again.
The sun tickled her soft face and she blinked. The warm smell of pancakes wafted into the room. She sat up and rubbed her eyes.
The mirror told her she needed to brush her hair and straighten her clothes. At the foot of her bed were some jeans and a pink top. She looked at them and gazed into the mirror once more, 'Yup I definitely need to change out of these' Mary sighed at her reflection.
She plodded downstairs and saw Meg dishing up pancakes for them all. She took the last chair at the bottom of the table and breathed in the fresh smell of the pancakes.

"Wow thank you Meg" smiled Mary. "It's my pleasure, enjoy!" Meg added sweetly. "I see you are wearing the clothes I put out for you, they look good." Meg said gesturing towards Mary's clothes. They all tucked into their meals, enjoying every minute of it. Mary watched The Boss shovel in great mouthfuls, and work his way through many pancakes. Meg caught Mary as she watched him. "He's a good eater, isn't he?" she said. Mary couldn't help but agree.
After a hearty breakfast Jake, Liam and Meg all invited Mary to go for a walk with them. The Boss said he needed to finish up some bills for the cottage. He told them to enjoy it and then he excused himself and left the room. Mary agreed and they set off.
Along the way they saw many cute creatures and enjoyed the fresh breezes that ruffled the treetops. Liam asked Mary,"Hey so if you don't mind me asking, how old are you?" "I'm 16 and a half," Mary answered. "How old are you guys?" Jake answered her,"I'm 19, Liam is 17 and Meg is 18. " Conversation came to a halt as Meg shushed them and pointed ahead at some raccoons peeping from behind a tree stump.

"Awww cute," whispered Mary softly. After seeing lots of other sights and enjoying nature, the four of them headed home.
Jake opened the door and the others went inside. Mary smiled as she looked around the cozy cottage. She loved it here!!! She hoped this would be here new life. If not she didn't know what would happen.
Little did she know that this little cottage adventure was far from over. The figure smiled and stalked away into the bushes.
