After their celebration meal at the Little Creek restaurant they all decided to go back home and chill together. This day had been wonderful. The moon winked at them as they entered the woods towards home.

While they plodded along, Meg and Jake both sensed that they were no longer alone. Someone was following them. Meg nodded to Liam and Jake they all spun around immediately  and faced different directions. They formed a protective circle around Mary, who was too bewildered to do anything. Mary just gasped silently as they watched a figure dart away into the woods beyond. Jake took up the chase and disappeared out of their sight. 'Wow he's fast,' Mary thought as Jake vanished after the mysterious figure. Meg and Liam then grabbed Mary's hands and ran with her all the way till they reached the safety of the cottage.

"Who was that?" asked Mary once they were inside and safe. "I don't know," replied Meg anxiously. "What about Jake?" wondered Mary. "He'll be fine," answered Liam with just a hint of worry in his voice which was quickly masked by no emotion. 'Why did he go after the figure? What if he needs help? Is he ok?'  Mary's thoughts made her feel troubled and anxious. She hadn't realized how much this new family meant to her. She hoped that somehow Jake would be just fine.

Jake struggled to his feet, blood flowing freely from his wounded gut. Jake once again lunged at the figure with immense force and clawed him in his back and throat. The man let out a yelp and fell, dazed onto the ground. Jake took one last look at the wounded figure and collapsed onto the floor of the woods. Darkness consumed them and all was silent.

It had been hours and Jake still hadn't returned. "Don't worry," said Meg. "You get some rest, The Boss and I are going to go look for him."   "Ok," whispered Mary quietly.

Little did they know just how bad Jake's condition was. Time was running out...
