"I'll keep you my dirty little secret."
You hadn't seen Hoseok in a week.
Well, eight days to be exact.
Eight days ago, you received a text message from your roommate saying that he had a business trip and he would be back soon. He never specified when exactly he'd be back, only that it would be "soon". You weren't quite sure what his definition of soon was. Because now it had been over a week and he hadn't responded to any of your texts or answered your calls nor had he tried to contact you again.
In the week Hoseok had been gone, several people from his social circle came by to "see how you were doing".
You were skeptical by day four when Chanyeol and Jinyoung came to bring "you and Hoseok" food. The day before Seulgi and Jisoo came over to "have a girl's day".
You had come to a far-fetched yet completely plausible conclusion to the situation.
Hoseok was keeping tabs on you.
You had seen it time and time again throughout your life. When your father would go on his trips and leave you and your brothers at home, or when you had to go undercover somewhere far, or when your ex left Daegu.
The only thing you needed now was the reason for those tabs.
On the eighth night, you spent the night at Chan and Yeonjun's place. You told them about your suspicions and about the days leading up to the sleepover.
"Jamie and Chungha came over the first day and offered to go bowling," you explained to them as you sat cross-legged on their couch. "And then two days ago Wendy and Wonpil showed up and asked if I wanted to go to the movies with them.
"I mean, he's not answering my calls or texts, he didn't say when he'd be back, and he's sending his friends to watch me?" you paused your rant to breathe. "You can't sit here and tell me that that's not weird."
Your cousin sighed at your rant as he walked towards the living room from the kitchen holding two bowls of ramen.
"He's probably just worried," Yeonjun handed you one of the bowls and sat next to you.
"I'm a grown woman," you spoke between bites. "He has no reason to worry about me, I can fucking take care of myself."
"Yeah, man," Chan spoke from the floor. "But, also, this isn't exactly the safest neighborhood for a woman to be alone in."
You thought about it for a second.
"No, that doesn't make sense," you began again. "I was literally trying to protect him on my first day here. He literally watched me bat down the fucking Park brothers. He's well fucking aware that I can take care of me."
