"That dress is hideous, Ann," Johanna comments, motioning to the wedding dress Annie is trying on. Johanna and Annie have gotten close, so we're all best friends now. At first, I didn't know if Johanna would like her because they're complete opposites. Johanna's loud and outgoing. Surprisingly for a Victoria's Secret model, Annie's quiet and more reluctant. Johanna likes going out places, whilst Annie likes staying home, reading, and/or watching Netflix. "Well, I like it," she replies, twirling in it. "What do you think, Kat?"
"Well, does this dress have to be sea green?"
"Of course!" I don't understand why she would want to wear a sea green dress down the aisle. It's not something I would do. I'd wear white- "Kat, you're not a vir-"
"What?!"
"You said you'd wear white at your wedding, virgins wear white." I said that out loud? Christ. "Who says I'm not?" I question, leaning back in my seat. "Everyone, have you seen the types of roles you've had to act?"
"Acting," I reply. "What about your past boyfriends?"
"Uh..."
"Exactly," she laughs. I roll my eyes and purse my lips. Truth is, I actually am. I've been waiting until I came back to be with Peeta, but I'm sure he's slept with some girl. Maybe to get rid of the hurt that I've caused him. "Did you mean to say that out loud too, Kat?" Annie questions. Again, really, Katniss?! "No, I didn't mean too."
"Well, Peeta didn't do any of that," Johanna says. I feel sort of relieved. I guess because I want us to share that moment. Annie twirls in the dress again. "I'm going to wear this dress," she finally says. "Really? What type of bridesmaid dresses are we going to wear?"
"Maybe some cream dresses." I wrinkle my nose as Johanna does the same. "What?"
"Cream?"
"Yes," she answers. "This will be the most ratchet wedding that I've ever been to," Johanna sighs. I stifle my laughter. "What?" Annie asks. "Cream dresses? Are you serious?"
"Yes," she says quietly. "It would've made more sense if you wore a white dress and had us wear the sea green dresses."
"Jo, this is my wedding, you're either going to be in it or not."
"If I'm not in it, who else is there other than Katniss?"
"Nobody, I can work with one bridesmaid."
"And if Kat backs out?"
"T-Then I won't have any bridesmaids," she says, close to tears. I glare at Johanna. "What?" She mouths. I nod towards a teary Annie. "Well," she mouths, throwing her hands up. I get up and wrap my arms around Annie in a comforting hug. "I-If you guys don't like the dress, I-I'll change-"
"No," I say, but I hear Johanna mutter, "Thank God." I scowl at her and she shrugs it off. "Apologize right now, Johanna," I mouth. She shakes her head no. God, it's like I'm dealing with two toddlers. Annie's the crybaby while Johanna's the bully. I roll my eyes and Annie lets go of me. "I'm sorry, Jo, if you don't like the dresses, I can make some adjustments-"
"No, don't you make any adjustments, Annie, give us one moment." I grab Johanna by the arm and lead her to the bathroom. "This is her wedding, Johanna, she can do whatever she wants and we'll be the ones to support her since she left everything to be with Finnick."
"But those dresses are ugly," she whines. "They may be ugly, but we will wear them, and we will love them."
"But, Kat-"
"Now go in there and apologize to her."
"Kat-"
"Do it," I command. She sighs and goes out of the bathroom with me behind her. We approach Annie. "I'm sorry, Annie, I know I've been rude and mean, but you don't need to change your plans just because of me. This is your big day, not mine."
"Thank you, Johanna," Annie smiles, giving her a hug. "No problem, Ann," Johanna replies. I smile and we go back to dress shopping.
*that evening*
I go into my hotel room to see Peeta sitting on the couch. I'm not surprised that he's here. I'm okay with it. "Hey, Babe," I greet, dropping my bags in the chair and plopping down beside him. "Hey, Kat," he smiles, kissing my cheek. "How was dress shopping?"
"Eh, I won't complain," I answer, resting my head against his shoulder. To be honest, shopping wore me out. I'm pooped. He wraps his arm around me and I snuggle against him. "Was it that bad?"
"I had to solve some conflict, the dresses are hideous, and the shoes are alright, but we're okay now."
"Jo made Annie cry, didn't she?"
"Yes," I reply, pulling the blanket off of the end of the couch and covering us up. "It was like I was dealing with two toddlers. Annie was crying and Johanna wouldn't apologize." He chuckles. "Do you still want children after all of that?"
"Yes, I want to prove the doctor wrong," I say, as his hand rubs my side. I close my eyes and sigh contently. "When we get married, how many children do you want?" He asks me. I'm not really sure how to answer that. I don't know to be honest. "One, or how many I have that first time around, which would most likely be one."
"Okay, if it's a girl, I want her to be just like you," he says quietly. "Huh?" I murmur, slowly dozing off. "I want a little girl that's just like you," he trails off. I think he's dozing off too. "I want a boy, who's just like you," I reply as I feel his cheek rest against the top of my head. "I love you," he mutters. "I love...you too," I reply before I fall into an oblivious slumber.
