Chapter 8: Boney Island

Lukas's POV

We were all grouped up with Chris waiting for him to explain today's challenge.

"Bass. Gophers. Today's a true summer camp experience. A canoe trip. You'll be paddling your boats to Boney Island." Chris said trying to sound creepy." When you get there, you must Portage your canoes to the other side of the island. Which is about a two-hour hike through treacherous dense jungle."

"We gotta pour what now?" Geoff asked.

"Portage. Dude, walk with your canoe." Chris said.

"Oh."

"Now when you arrive on the other end of the island. You'll build a rescue fire that will be judged by me. The first team to paddle home and return their canoes to the beach is the winner of invincibility. Move, move move!" Chris said

We all started leaving but Chris stopped us." Oh, wait. One more thing I should mention. Legend has it. If you take anything off of the island, you'll be cursed forever." Chris said in a spooky tone.

"YEAH! A curse island! Woo!" Owen cheered.

"Now get in your canoes and let's have some fun." Chris says

"Yes!" Owen cheers.

We all started heading towards the canoe. Trent gave Gwen a friendly smile. She smiled back. I'm guessing she's over the buried alive thing.

Cody then came and put his arm around her shoulder.

"Come on Gwen, you and me. Open water. What do you say?" Cody asked.

Gwen quickly did this thing to Cody's arm to get him off.

Lindsay and Beth bugged Trent to go with them. Gwen rolled her eyes.

"Fine. But I'm in charge." She stated.

"Want me to come with?" I asked.

"Sure. The more, the merrier." Gwen shrugged.

Gwen sat in the canoe. We watched Cody attempt to impress Gwen.

"It's okay. I've got it." Cody said then continued to try and pull and make no progress.

"Do you want me to help?" I asked.

"Nah, no." He said then tried to pull and fell over.

Me and Gwen exchanged a look and she rolled her eyes.

"Here. I got it." I said and started pushing the canoe.

"Thank you." Gwen sighed in clear annoyance.

/Gwen:" Cody. He's like a little brother. An annoying little brother."\

/Lukas:"I don't know if Cody realizes how much he annoys Gwen. Maybe if he had someone like him that did the same thing, then maybe he'd understand. But I don't know." I shrugged.\

We were all positioned in our canoes. Gwen sat in the front, Cody in the middle, and me in the back.

"On your marks, get set, pattle!" Chris said firing a gun shot.

"So, you wanna go out some time?" Cody asked her.

"No." Gwen simply answered.

"How about Friday night?"

"Uh, no."

"Saturday's good for me. How about Saturday?"

"I'm not going out with you. Ever." Gwen glared.
