(made me everything I am)

----------------------------------

Jax's pov

I open my eyes and Chibbs is bent down over me.

"Welcome back to the world of the living, kid."

..............

My whole torso feels so sore, I can barely breathe. Apparently we're up at the cabin, Unser's idea, to not draw so much attention.

"I got the slug out. You're lucky it didn't puncture your lung, it missed it by a few millimetres." He looks at me with compassion. "What were you thinking Jackie boy? Jumping out like that."

"I'm tired Chibbs."

He sighs and rubs his hands on the sides of his legs."I'll leave you alone then." He gets up form the chair he was sitting on and opens the door to leave.

"You call mom yet?"

"Nah, Unser's going down there to tell her in person so she doesn't freak out and get in some car crash heading up here."

I nod and he leaves. I hear the guys asking things about me but then Chibbs closes the door and it gets all quiet...Just me and my thoughts.

The dreams about Tara leaving are nothing new, but this one was much more scary; with Abel and Wendy yelling, in pain...gives me cold sweats just thinking about it. I feel sick to my stomach. I can't even take care of myself; how am I supposed to take care of Abel? Give him the life he deserves and not doom him to the same generational struggle that my dad started and Clay is perpetuating.

Lana's pov

"I don't know..." I avoid answering her question and take another sip of my chamomile tea, hiding my blushing cheeks with the huge, purple mug.

"Well he's complicated, just like his old man." She says rolling her black sleeves back down, avoiding eye contact.

"He doesn't really strike me as the mysterious type..."

She looks at me confused, but then quickly realizes the mix-up. "I'm not talking about Clay, baby; John, Jax's dad. He died when Jax was just a kid."

"Oh...I didn't know. I figured Jax looks nothing like Clay but I just went with it." I laugh the awkwardness off.

Abel lets out a little snore from his bassinet and I quickly get up to check on him, but he's fine. I lightly adjust his chin upwards so he doesn't put any unnecessary pressure on his airways.

I sit back down at the huge dining room table and look over to Gemma, who's staring at me, smiling.

"What?" I let out an uncomfortable laugh.

"I see you and Abel have already gotten used to each other."

"Well, he's-"

I'm interrupted by a loud knock at the front door. I shift my eyes from Gemma to the clock on the wall: 9.30 am. I guess it's not that early for guests.

Gemma gets up and starts walking calmly towards the door, but the annoying knocking continues.

"I'm coming god damn it!" She yells, walking faster and tying the robe she has over her silk pajamas. She pushes the yellow blinds from the door's little window aside and looks out to see the unwanted visitor, letting out a sigh.

She opens the door and pauses for a bit. I lift myself up on the one leg I had under me to see who it is. It's the chief, something bad must've happened. I get chills up my spine and my mind races through the endless possibilities.
