Jax's pov
"This is quite a situation you've gotten yourself into Jackie boy." He says scratching the back of his head. "Some soap opera type of shit."
I smile. "Yeah Chibbs, I know... I don't know what would be worse, her finding out from me, or on her own."
"So you're considering letting this dude join the club? Cause you could just send him on his way and be done with it, Liz wouldn't even know he was here."
"It's too big of a thing for me to hide from her, I would want to know if some long lost relative had the chance to be a part of my life again, especially a brother, this hits too close to home." I sigh and sit down on the couch. "Plus he fits the criteria of a prospect, with the background he has he would be way more useful to us than the weaklings we have prospecting now."
He lets out a loud chuckle. "You said it brother, were prospects always such wusses or was I too drunk to notice? The good ol' days..." We sit in silence for a bit. "If you're planning on her finding out anyway, then you should be the one to tell her, less of a shock, you now?"
"Yeah... I'll just have to tell her when she gets back from L.A."
"The sooner the better, let's just hope it's a good surprise." He sits down next to me. "Speaking of confessions, what's the situation with you and Ope lately?"
I sigh, I'm so tired of this thing, haven't talked to him since I don't know when.
"The situation is that he's turning into Clay's little bitch, does anything he can to be against me."He frowns "You know that's not true, he voted for Diosa Norte, supported your action... he loves you Jax, he's your best friend."
"Yeah well I haven't been feeling the love." I say looking away. "I don't know what he wants anymore... we haven't argued like this since I smashed that poor dude's face in because I couldn't keep my big mouth shut about club business, in high school... I wonder what he's up to." I chuckle. "Ope didn't let me hear the end of it for months."
"You have to keep making the right choices and he'll come around, you'll see; Opie's not stupid."
I run my hands through my hair when my phone rings. I take it out of my pocket and look at the caller ID, Liz is back.
Lizzy's pov
"He said all that? What a bunch of bullshit." Exclaims Rob leaning back onto her car seat. "So what did you tell him?"
"The things he said were so hard for me to hear, he's always been my weak spot; unfortunately I've heard so many other versions of that speech throughout the years that I've almost become desensitized to it. I just told him that contrary to what he believes, my world doesn't revolve around him anymore. It would take way more than a stale speech to win me back, too little too late."
"So what, he might actually stand a chance?" She frowns.
"I didn't say that... he'll always have a special place in my heart tho, he was my first love after all. He seemed so disappointed..." I say playing with my bracelet.
"Oh god, I'm gonna throw up."
I make a few kissy noises towards her and we both laugh.
"God I miss Abel so much, not looking forward to seeing Jax tho..." I say looking out the window to avoid eye contact. "I feel so guilty I kissed Jim, I shouldn't have."
"Just don't tell him." I roll my eyes at Rob's suggestion. "Sorry, I just thought you want to avoid drama."
"I do, but I also don't want to lie to him..."
"Lizzy, Jax is a pretty jealous guy, he has to own his things."
"Well I'm not a thing for him to own, plus it wasn't like that, it's not like I planned it." I interrupt her.
"You know what I mean...just think about it long and well before telling him. You should call him, we're almost in Charming."
Jax's pov
I park my bike in the Diosa parking lot just as Liz gets out of the car and I can't help but grin, I've missed her more than I thought I would; I don't think I've been this crazy about someone since Tara. I rush towards her, but she doesn't seem as excited to see me.
I take her into a bear hug. "I couldn't wait for you to get back, how was L.A?"
"It was good." She shrugs and pecks me on the lips.
"You have to tell me everything!" I say while tucking her hair behind her ears.
"Yeah...when we get home." She responds while looking at the ground.
"Did something happen?" I frown and put my hands on her waist.
"Oh no." She jumps. "I just...really miss Abel." She gives me a sad smile.
"Gemma will bring him back later, thought we could spend some time together." I say smiling and offer her my helmet. She looks at it hesitantly and takes a step back.
"Is it ok if I ride in the car? I'm just really tired, you know?" She says opening the door.
"Uhm...yeah...ok. See you at home then." And with that she gets in and slams the door.
What the fuck was that? I follow the car home and help Lizzy get her bags inside, not exchanging a word. After bringing in her last luggage I go into the bedroom only to see she's already in the shower.
I walk into the kitchen and make some chamomile tea, her favorite. I can't stop wondering if I should really tell her that her brother is here, especially after seeing she's not like her usual self...Maybe she's sensing something.
The shower stops and after a few minutes she walks out, wrapped in a towel. The steam escapes from the bathroom, infusing the house with the smell of her shower gel. I watch her go into the bedroom and shut the door behind her, not even looking at me.
I follow her. "Liz, I have to talk to you."
"Me too." She responds sitting on the bed and pulling her towel up, to squeeze the water out of her hair.
I take a seat next to her and put my hand on her leg. "Earlier this week, some guy came by the clubhouse and..."
"I met Jim while I was in L.A." She interrupts me.
"What?"
...........
Lizzy's pov
I watch as his facial expression quickly changes from concerned to confused and angry. "And you kissed him back?!"
"Jax it really wasn't like that." I try to reassure him as I see tears building up in his eyes for a split second before he stands up.
"It's ok if you still have feelings for him, we've been rushing things anyway; I'll be staying at the clubhouse. You can go over to Gemma's if you want to see Abel; just tell me when you know what you want." He says while throwing clothes into a bag.
I stand up and grab his arm. "I know what I want Jax; I want you." I try to pull him close but he pulls away and starts heading towards the door.
I struggle to hold my towel up as I chase him outside the house. "Please don't go, talk to me." I say putting myself in front of his bike, blocking it.
"Get out of the way Liz." He says not making eye contact.
"Please..." I reach out and try to touch his face but he pulls away.
He looks me dead in the eye. "I need to think, Elizabeth." And he keeps the cold eye contact.
I feel shivers down my spine and move out of the way, watching him leave.
