CHAPTER 18

NEIL

Nakaupo ako dito sa isang bench malapit sa tabi ng isang puno habang pinapanood ang paligid. Everyone looks happy, except for me. I was just sitting here, zoning out. It looks like I am locked in a dark room waiting for someone to save me, because I can't think of anything to do.

Napayuko ako at tinitigan ang mga kamay ko, hanggang sa bumalik na naman sa isip ko yung mga nangyari kanina lamang. I don't know why it keeps repeating on mind, ako rin naman ang may kasalanan kung bakit ako nagkakaganito ngayon.

Alam ko rin naman na hindi niya ako magugustuhan, pero umasa ako pa rin eh. I never thought of the chance, before I expected a thing. I took a deep breathe and closed my eyes for five seconds so I could calm myself.

"Hoy, andiyan kalang pala." I opened my eyes and lift my head. It was Luke, he's sweating and breathing heavily because of tiredness. "Hey, what's wrong?" His brows furrowed for few seconds.Umiling iling lang ako, kumunot ang noo ko nang bigla siyang yumuko sa harapan ko.

"What are..." He suddenly stopped talking while picking something from the ground. Tinignan ko kung ano ang pinupulot niya, my eyes widened when I saw my pictures with Kate on the ground. Luke was still staring at it with a blank face.

Napalunok ako. "It's not what you think..." I stopped talking when I realized that, I was saying a lame excuse again.

"I already knew." He stand up and glanced at me for a few seconds before turning his gaze to the one of the pictures he was holding.

"Akin na.." I told him, reaching the pictures on his hands.

Inilayo niya lang ito at umupo sa tabi ko. He was staring at the picture where Kate kissed my cheeks. Pagkaraan ng isang minuto ibinalik niya rin agad ito. He turned his gaze to me and gave me cold stares, next he looked down on my shirt.

"May couple shirt pa pala kayo?" I can hear the sarcastic tone on his voice.

"It's a friendship shirt." I corrected him. "You see..." I exhaled a large amount of air.

Umirap siya at humalukipkip. "Kaya ka pala nagmamadali kanina?" Pagsisingit niya.

Umirap din ako. "Ikaw nga yung nagmamadali na umalis kanina, kasi sinabi mong may kukunin ka sa dorm mo." I breathe out. "Tapos wala naman talaga." I took of my phone out my pocket and looked at the time. Also to avoid his gaze.

"Why do you look sad?" He quickly asked, ignoring what I just said. I looked at him and smiled. He just smirked at me. "You're faking your smile."

I took a deep breathe and turned my eyes away from him to stare at nowhere. I looked at him when I heard him cursed, I wasn't sure if that's a curse, but he's brows were forming 'V' so I guess he's angry.

Kumunot ang noo ko. "Why?" It is for me or what? I looked down on my hand when he quickly grab it and intertwined his hand on mine. Bigla siyang tumayo kaya bahagyang tumaas ang kilay ko nang mapatingin ako sa kaniya. Magsasalita na sana ako pero bigla niya na lang akong hinila.

"Saan na naman ba tayo papunta?" Tanong ko habang patuloy lang kami sa pagtakbo. I'm not yet familliar to the every corner of this school, kaya hindi ko alam kung saan kami papunta.

"Bilisan mo." Utos niya. I'm tryin' my best here, Mister. Sa tingin mo ba makakatakbo ako ng mabilis? Oo, makakatakbo ako ng mabilis kung alam ko yung pupuntahan namin.
