The Baudelaires, Quagmires, Pheonix, Jenny, Francine, and Wyatt finally arrived at the VFD village. They hid in the outskirts of town.
"Okay, we should split up." Francine announced. "We'll cover more ground."
Everyone agreed and split into three groups. The first group consisted of Francine, Isadora, and Klaus. They went to the Town Hall to speak to those who were in charge. The second group had Violet, Sunny, and Pheonix in it. They were going to find a place to stay in case they had to stay overnight. The last group was made up of Duncan, Jenny, and Wyatt. They were going to walk up to townspeople and ask about the town. If I could be there with the children and know what th future holds, I would tell them to leave VFD now before things got bad. Unfortunately, I'm not there with them and therefore I cannot help them. First, we'll focus on Klaus, Isadora, and Francine.
They walked right into the town hall. They saw three elderly people and walked up to them.
"Excuse me--" Isadora was interrupted by the shouts of the old woman in the middle.
"Excuse you indeed! Do you not know rule 53?"
Isadora glanced at Klaus and Francine before turning back to the elders.
"No. Sorry. Um, my friends and I--"
"Are you a resident of this town?" the old man asked. "Or apart of our it takes a village to raise a child program?"
"Well, no, but--"
"Then what are you doing here?" the other old lady asked.
"Well, she's trying to explain, but you three keep interrupting her." Klaus defended Isadora.
The elders gasped and whispered among each other. Isadora smiled gratefully at Klaus. Francine looked between the two and put the dots together. She smirked at them. The elders turne back to the children.
"Seeing as though you are trespassers, and have broken multiple rules, you will go to the jailcell for the night."
"Jail?" Francine exclaimed.
"Yes, jail. Our chief of police will guide you there now."
At that moment, the chief of police entered and led the kids to the jail against their will.

While those troublemakers were going to the slammer, Violet, Pheonix, and Sunny walked around VFD stealthily. They walked around for hours but couldn't find anywhere to stay.
"Not even an inn." Violet was telling Pheonix.
"What if we asked a townsperson to stay with them for a while?" Pheonix offered.
"What person would open their house for seven tweens and a toddler?" Violet asked Pheonix.
Almost as if Violet summoned him, the two older kids saw a man across the road who was walking from his house very far away. Violet and Pheonix shared a look. They nodded and the trio walked up to him.
"Hello." Violet greeted.
"Why hello there." the man responded.
"I'm Violet. This is my sister Sunny and our friend Pheonix." Violet decided not to use their last names in cast the man found out they ran away from school. "This is going to sound very wierd, but can we stay with you? Not forever, just for a couple of days."
"And some other kids will be there, too." Pheonix added quickly.
The man shifted uncomfortably. "I don't know...rule number 54 states I can't do that."
