Chapter "2"

Elena got settled into her new office. It's her first day at The Mystic Falls Daily as an official employee but it isn't her first time here in the building. She had been here a couple of times. One time was for her graduating project which was about the deep impact of journalism on the daily life of people. Damon had sent her a text that he would arrive to the paper at 10:30 AM.

The staff of the newspaper came to congratulate her. Then, a tall brunette pretty girl walked into her office. It was her new friend Meredith. Mer, as Elena loves to call her, is a very funny, kind and sweet young woman. She was older than Elena with two years. She's polite and well-talked person and Elena just loved her from the first moment they met. They became really best friends. Although Meredith is the one with experience, yet she still lends hand to Elena from once in a while when she needs help.

"Good morning, E", said Meredith gleefully.

"Morning to you too Mer", said Elena happily.

"How is your office? Do you like it?," said Meredith.

"Yes, I do. I like the view from it. It looks over this colourful garden in front of the building", said Elena dreamily.

"Oh, are you in love, girl?," said Meredith, with a smile in her eyes.

"As a matter of fact, I do, and soon to be married, whispered Elena winking her right eye at her new friend's expression.

"W- what..? Wait, you what..? Soon-to-married? Aren't you still young for that stuff, E?", said Meredith thoughtfully.

"Yes, but I'm in love with my man. And we can't live without each other. We know each other really well," said Elena happily.

"Really? So, you've been dating since those three years?" asked Meredith impressed.

"Yea, and we love each beyond what words can describe", said Elena romantically.

"Save your breath girl, or else your man will say that I have something to do with that", said Meredith teasingly.

Elena didn't answer her for she got a telephone from their boss, the editor of the paper, asking to see her.

"It's Mr. Clarks. He wants to meet us together. As in now in his office", said Elena with a serious tone to her friend.

"Oh! That man is tough as a nail but he's really kind at his heart. You'll love him. He's really a father- figure to all of us", said Meredith sweetly.

Elena couldn't help but smile at Meredith's words. Elena actually had met Mr. David Clarks when she visited the paper as part of her project. And he was as Meredith had said.

"Get in Gilbert and Fell", said Mr. Clarks seriously.

The two girls did as they were told and closed the door behind them.

"How are you today Gilbert? I hope you've already settled down", said the old man seriously.

"Thank you very much Mr. Clarks. I did and I'm fine thanks for asking", said Elena politely.

"Good, and Fell, how are we with the new event of today at Mystic Falls General's inauguration of the new suit", said Mr. Clarks.

"We're expecting good reviews once we have everything goes according to our plan", said Meredith knowingly.

"Doctor Salvatore is expected to come today, here at about 10:30 this morning, sir", added Elena.

"Good. Gilbert and Fell, you're going to be our representative today with Doctor Salvatore since my granddaughter isn't feeling well and I have to be by her side," said Mr. Clarks sadly.

Elena felt sad for Mr. Clarks. He was like grandfather to her. And she really loved him.

It was 10:30 when Doctor Damon Salvatore arrived at the Mystic Falls Daily. He entered the building and told the secretary about his appointment with Mr. David Clarks. But he was informed that the old man left for personal reasons apologizing pointing out that his employees Meredith Fell and Elena Gilbert would be the ones to interview him. Damon thanked the girl politely and waited for the interviewers.

"Good day Doctor Salvatore. I'm Meredith Fell and this is my new colleague Elena Gilbert," said Meredith politely.

"Good day to you to Miss Fell. Please feel free and call me Damon. And hello to you Miss Gilbert," said Damon charmingly.

"Good morning Doctor Salvatore," said Elena hiding her smile. She had to be official with Damon until she would reveal everything about them to Meredith.

"So, Doctor Salvatore, I mean Damon. Can you tell us about the new project of the Mystic Falls General?" asked Meredith firstly.

"Well, yes. This suite will be specified for children who suffer from severe diseases such as cancer or diabetes," said Damon explaining.

"And would please tell us about its cost?" asked Elena.

"It will be about 10$M. But children will get to be treated for free. Their parents won't pay any pence for their children's treatment. Lots of children are in pain because of such diseases and their parents can't afford the medical treatments, meds or surgeries. So, we decided that the hospital will take care of that. And with donations from charitable organizations and people who want to donate we'll be able to do our best to save those little kids", said Damon compassionately.

"That's great Doctor Salvatore and thanks for your time," said both girls in the same time.

"Thanks to you too. Hope that this project will be helpful to those kids and their families," said Damon seriously. Then Damon left apologizing since he's late and he's an important surgery to attend to.

By the time Elena got back to her office. It was already lunch time. Meredith came in asked her if she wanted some pizza but she apologized saying she has some work to do then will go out to a quick visit to her brother at college.

On her way out of the building, her cell phone ringed. She answered and a familiar voice came to her ears. It was her sexy fiancé doctor calling her.

"Hi there gorgeous", said Damon lovingly.

"Hello baby", said Elena.

"Missed you so much", whispered Damon. He always does that, making her feel like she's the only one in the world he cares about.

"Missed you more Damon-baby", said Elena smiling sweetly.

"Not more than me Lena", said Damon sending kisses to her through his phone.

"Where are you now?", asked Damon.

"Back to my office. I just got back from a visit to my bro and your bro in college", answered Elena.

"Oh. And were they fine?", asked Damon.

"Yes, and Jer says hello to you", said Elena laughingly.

"And how was the surgery you had?," asked Elena.

"It was a success, thank Goodness," said Damon happily.

"Well, we're going to meet today, some work-free time finally", said Damon. "Ah by the way baby, I'm on my way to pick you up."

"Oh thanks baby. See you after a while", said Elena lovingly.

He keeps telling himself how lucky he is for meeting and falling in love with Elena Gilbert.
