El had been restless on the drive home from her trip. She was so excited to see Mike and her friends. The trip was rather boring.
"El chill out" Will said slightly annoyed.
"Im sorry but I cant im just too excited." Will had been slightly on edge lately, probably all the time away from Richie made him cranky.
Mike was sitting on a park bench when he heard footsteps approach him from behind. He immediately turned around with a smile on his face.
"Jolene, hi." He said as he stood up to greet her.
"So whats the plan for today?"
"Follow me." Mike said.
Max was pacing across Dustin's living room.
"I have a bad feeling about this, what the hell does he think he's doing? Running off with another girl when El is coming back today. What the fuck is wrong with him, I swear to god if he hurts her ill kill him. I will." Max said running out of breath.
"I don't know." Dustin and Lucas said in unison.
"Why didn't you guys stop him?"
"You know how he is, hes stubborn as hell." Lucas said.
"This is weird, usually he would be waiting by the phone or by the door just waiting for El to get back like a dog. Somethings up with him." Dustin said as Max plopped herself on the floor next to Lucas.
"When's El going to be back?" Lucas asked, max looked over at the clock.
"She should be here any second." The second she finished her sentence the doorbell rang.
"Speak of the devil." Dustin said as they all got up and walked to the door with excitement. Max flung open the door and threw herself to the person standing at the door. She pulled away to see Will
"Oh, youre not El."
"I feel so loved." Will said with a chuckle. Max pushed past him and immediately hugged El.
"Oh my god I missed you, I felt like you've been gone forever, how dare you leave me with this imbeciles." Max said and El chuckled
"Oh im sure it wasn't so bad, youre alive aren't you." El said as she pulled away.
"Barely."
"So where's Mike?" El asked
"And where's Richie?" Will chimed in.
"Richie is at his house, he thought you were coming back later." Lucas said as Will was out the door in the blink of an eye.
"Mike?" El asked with puppy dog eyes
"About that, you should sit down." Max said leading her to the couch.
"What's going on." El said worried.
"We should be honest right?" Dustin asked as Max nodded.
"So a couple days ago we dragged him to the mall to cheer him up and... he met this girl." Max said hesitantly not wanting to hurt her.
"A girl? Well where is he now?" El said, her voice breaking up.
"Hes with her." Max said as El just sat there, frozen.
"Lets go." El said standing up abruptly and heading straight outside.
"Woah woah woah where are we going." Dustin said following along.
"I want to see them, I want to see her, where are they." El said determined.
"Im not sure, lets check the arcade." Lucas said as they headed on their way. They walked in a group when El abruptly stopped and pulled Max to the side.
"Max.... he's cheating on my isn't he." El said with realization.
"No, he would never. He loves you so much El he wouldn't." Max said reassuring her. El just nodded and they caught up with the boys.
After a while of walking and listening to the boys bicker, they arrived to the arcade.
"Let's go find that son of a bitch" Dustin said as he flung open the doors. They walked down the aisles until they saw Mike helping a short girl with dark brown hair on dig dug. El pushed past the group and walked up to Mike.
She tapped him on the shoulder and crossed her arms as he whipped around. He just stood there in a state of shock.
"I just wanted to see it for myself, have fun on your little date you fucking dick. Go fuck yourself asshole." El said relatively calmly and stormed off as Max followed her.
Mike tried to run after her but the boys stopped him.
"LET ME GO I NEED TO TALK TO HER." Mike screamed at them, causing a scene.
"You knew the consequences Mike, you fucked this up. Leave her alone." Lucas said as they all stormed off and left Mike there with tears streaming down his face.
Max searched for El until she found her sitting in a dark alleyway.
"It's not safe here you might get kidnapped or something." Max said as she sat next to the girl. El was just staring at the wall in front of her when out of nowhere she started violently sobbing. Max immediately wrapped her arms around her.
"It's ok let it out." Max said rubbing her back. After a couple minutes El fully sat up.
"Why would he do that? Who was she? Does he even care anymore? I was gone for one fucking week and he just goes to another girl! WHAT THE FUCK!" El said as she screamed loudly and grabbed her head. Bottles and trash from the ground were swept up and thrown in multiple directions by El.
Joelene turned to the crying boy.
"What just happened?" She said calmly
"God fucking damn it. I should've never been here, that was my girlfriend and i just fucked things up and i love her with all my heart and i don't know how to fix it and i never should've been here in the first place." Mike said as he sat down on the floor.
"I understand, go try and fix things and just forget i existed."
"I'm sorry" Mike said sobbing as he ran out of the arcade immediately bumping into a large figure.
"Woah woah woah. Kid what's wrong?" Mike heard as he looked up and saw Hopper. Mike broke down sobbing in his arms as Hopper did his best to comfort him. They eventually got into Hoppers car.
"What happened kid? Where's El? I figured she'd be with you." Hopper said as Mike brushed his dark curls out of his face.
"I fucker it up hopper, i went to the arcade with this girl and i don't even like her i was just bored and i don't even know why i went but i never ever want to hurt El, she means the absolute world to me but i hurt her. I just want to fix things and i hate myself for hurting her, i shouldn't even be alive, i love her so much and she deserves the world and nothing less and i hurt her." Mike said starting to cry again. Hopper sighed and sat back in his chair.
"Give her some time and then try to explain, don't force her into anything. We'll talk more when you've calmed down. I'll take you home." Hopper said as Mike just nodded and looked out the window.
The pair spent their nights crying into their pillows.
