Chapter Thirty Six

Finally

"Do you think he'll be fine?"

"Lucien? He will be," Zerxes said and wrapped his arms on my waist tighter, but still enough for me to breathe. Hinawakan ko ang braso niya na nakapulupot sa aking baywang at bahagya siyang sinilip. Next month, I'll be giving birth to our little angel. Nasasabik na akong maging ina.

It'll be surely hard but I can endure it as long as I can give and guarantee a bright future for our child. Ganoon naman talaga ang dapat na gawin ko, namin.

"Why are you smiling? Anong nasa isip mo, hmm?" he whispered behind me and I just smiled wider. Hindi lang ako ang nasasabik nang makita ang anak namin, kundi siyempre ang ama niya rin. It's a good thing to always have him by my side.

"Wala, naisip ko lang kung gaano ako kasabik makita na ang anak natin. I'll be giving birth next month, it's so exciting," I said and smiled. Imbis na mahimigan ko ng kasiyahan rin si Zerxes ay malalim na paghinga lamang ang iginanti nito. Isn't he excited?

"I am sorry, baby. I didn't marry you before having our first child. However, I'm not sorry because we have a child, though. Nasa plano ko noong una na pakakasalan kita saka tayo gagawa ng pamilya para wala nang kaso pa," he said and buried his face on my neck.

"Don't think of it the other way, I am not disappointed. Dahil alam ko na may lugar ako, kami, sa mga plano mo. I know that you won't break your promise to love me and have me as your future all. May tiwala ako, Zerxes. Let's just say that your plan to marry me first then have a kid got switched," I chuckled. He did, too.

Totoo naman. I looked at my left hand to see my engagement ring there. This is the symbol of his promise to me. Knowing that I am bound to marry my first and have him as my last makes me happy. Siya ang una kong nobyo, at ngayon ay mapapangasawa na. It feels surreal.

Having someone as my first and last love feels surreal.

"How about I marry you today?"

"Huh, gago ka ba?" I asked, obviously shocked! Pakasalan ako ngayong araw? I mean, I don't care about fancy dresses, receptions or churches. Bakit parang binigla niya naman yata?

"Baby, your mouth! Kung papayag ka, pakakasalan kita sa huwes ngayon mismo. It'll be a private gathering only. Gusto kong sa paglabas ng anak ko ay apelyido ko na ang gagamitin niya," he answered. Napaisip ako.

"Really, today? Ang aga pa, may papayag kayang judge ang magkasal sa atin ngayon?" I said, getting convinced.

"Don't worry about it, baby. If you'll say yes then we'll get married today. If no, then we'll wait for the awaited and prepared church wedding," aniya at nagkibit balikat. I want our child to bear his surname, of course. What's getting married twice, anyway?

"You'll marry me in church, right?" ngiting aso kong tanong. He chuckled and kissed my cheeks in delight. Pinugpog niya ako ng halik atsaka ako tinanguan. I gave him a peck on his lips before answering.

"Then we should get ready for our wedding later."

"So, ano? Kaya niyo ba?"

"You bruha, of course!" Alli said in panick dahil ibinalita ko sa kanila na pakakasal ako kay Zerxes ngayong araw. I told them why, when and where. Sila ang witness ko sa kasal namin. I don't know about Zerxes, though.

"Seryoso talaga, Icy?! But you'll get married in church again, right?" Nagpapanic din na sabi ni Mai sa akin. I nodded happily. Ang mahalaga lamang para sa akin ay maikasal sa mahal ko, wala nang iba. As long as it's him I'll be marrying, ayos sa akin kahit saan pa. Huwes man o simbahan.
