One thing my mother taught me was respect. I greet a janitor the same way I greet a CEO.

God damn it! Now I can't hypnotize her to do my portion of the dishes!

What? Since when do you do hypnosis?

Uh, since I was 14! Haven't you been paying attention? How does Archer shut up?

You hypnotized him?!

Hehe...I'll be in the kitchen!

Doing your goddamn dishes. And close the fucking lid this time!

I mentally rolled my eyes. Controlling your heartbeat and listening to these idiots talk was pure heaven. I might even do this more often so Jackson can do his goddamn dishes.

Once everyone was outside the room, I loosened my control and let my heart beat freely.

"Someone get Raymond!"

My eyes opened slowly and were blinded by the bright lights.

"Shut the freaking lights man," I groaned, slipping inside the covers, "who are you looking for?"

Once the lights dimmed, I slipped out.

"I heard what happened," Sky said while sitting on the edge of the bed, "Pretty damn cool."

"Thanks. But I will kill Jackson for leaving that lid open."

She laughed, "Yeah. I don't doubt that."

My eyes furrowed as I thought about everyone here, "Hey where's Aria?"

"About that," she answered hesitantly, "She went to her home. Somewhere near your's I assume."

"Somewhere," I murmured in agreement.

We sat in silence until I realized, "Wait, where are the rest?"

Sky glanced at me before looking back at her phone, "The rest went with mom and dad to find out who that was. Jackson and I are supposed to go in an hour and Hunter and you stay here."

"Oh...great. Can I get up?"

"Unless you're too lightheaded to do so."

I gave her a tight smile that hid my pain quite well because the next thing I know, she harshly tugged my hand to pull me up.

"Fucking christ, woman," I cried, "Don't you even have subtle decency?"

"Nope," Skylar replied, popping the 'p', "I don't. Now if you hurry along, Jackson and I have a plane to catch."

I slowly walked my way to the bathroom, grabbing my clothes on the way in. While I changed into my clothes from the too exposing gown, I recalled what had happened before I blacked out.

The man suffocating me, and then Hunter being the knight in shining armor.

But what was the tattoo on the inside of his wrist?

Focus Minerva, you got this.

Ut et mortuorum et vivorum.

The fuck? What the hell is that supposed to mean? (If you know, you can comment it inline here :)

I got out, dismissing the thought, and scrambled downstairs to say goodbye to the idiots.

"You better come back soon!"

They just smiled sadly before driving away, leaving Hunter and I at the entrance. A feeling of dread washed over me as I considered her response.

"Hunter," I carefully asked, "When are they coming back?"

He looked at me before grabbing my hand and taking me inside. I snatched it away, trying to rub off the tingling sensations.

"When are they coming back," I asked more forcefully, anxious to get the answer.

He didn't reply and I glared at his back, "Hunter, when. Are. They. Coming. Back?"

"Five months. Five months and they might visit occasionally."

"Five months," I exploded after realizing what he said, "Why aren't you with them? You're the heir, your safety is the most important of all!"

We stayed in silence for sometime until Hunter turned around and looked at me with slight red eyes, reflecting a broken boy I had never seen, "I'm not the heir Minerva, I have an older brother. Mom and dad have gone to live with him. We're here as guard dogs to maintain the place."

I gasped before stumbling towards him, not taking my eyes off of his.

"Oh Hunter..."

I slipped my hands around his waist, burying my head in his chest, gently rocking back and forth. He stood frozen for a couple of seconds before wrapping his warm hands around mine.

After what felt like an eternity, I pulled back and looked at him, "I know how it's like to be not wanted by family. We all have our demons, Hunter. Don't worry, we'll be safe."

He gave me a painful smile before turning around and heading to his room. I clenched my jaw and ran up the stairs to my room, taking out the laptop and typing away.

I'm gonna find a way to keep us company. I'm not a guard dog, never have, never will be.
