Mystic Falls High School ...

Niklaus and Stefan were standing outside the school near the entrance to the gym hall.

"You know this is your fault. You set us on this path when you released my mother. I wonder if revenge will prove worth the cost." Niklaus said.

"Oh, I'm done with revenge. As far as Esther; we've stopped her before, we'll stop her again." The younger Salvatore said.

"We're strange bedfellows, you and I. You know, all of this, reminds me of our time together in the Twenties."

"You say that like I'm supposed to have happy memories about it."

"Well, there were moments. Real friendship. Brotherhood."

Damon walked up.

"Well, he already has a brother. Not to be, you know, territorial or anything." He sassed.

"Oh no, of course, the Salvatores. And their unshakeable bond. I wonder what'll happen when Elena finally makes her choice. Will we see you shake just a little bit?"

Bonnie came out of the school.

"It's done. Esther's not fighting me anymore. The boundary spell is broken."

Niklaus tested the boundary with his arm, and seeing Bonnie's words were correct, sped away to his home where he assumed the girl he fancied was.

To his surprise, the mansion was quite. He called out multiple times for any inhabitants around.

Machae. Kol. Rebekah. No one answered. He knew something must have happened while he was gone.

He checked Kol's room to see it cleared of things. No sign of him or Machae. He went to Rebekah's room to meet the same silence but at least her things were still there.

He called their number again. First being Rebekah. No answer. Then Kol. Still inactive. Last Machae. No answer, but he heard a sound from somewhere inside the mansion.

He called her again. Following the sound. More like her phone vibration. And he reached the backyard stair steps and saw her phone and sunglasses.

He frowned. 'Why would she left her things here?' he thought. And he knew Machae never got out outside without a coverage for her eyes. He remembered today she wasn't wearing her contact only her sunglasses. Now, he knew something was definitely wrong. She was taken. He couldn't help but worried about her safety.

He rushed to the only logical place he knew could be the place she was taken and confirmed his suspicion. Mystic Falls Old Cemetary.

When he got there, he saw his mother lying dead. Staked at her shoulder. He picked her up and rushed inside the tomb knowing she was here for a reason.

There he was met by the doppelganger, her brother and their guardian. All looking at him with surprise and fear on their faces. And what he saw next shocked him. He was now enraged beyond limit.

There lay the unconscious girl sprawled on the ground with her wrists were tied behind her back and ankles were also tied together. He looked closer to see burning marks around her wrists and ankles from the ropes blood dipping off it from the strangle cuts, the burning marks were also clearly visible around her mouth and neck as a result from the gag she had. She looked so weak and vulnerable contrary to when he saw her for the past few days. He tried to listen for her heartbeat and found it beating still beating although faintly.
