*few weeks later*
ZACH
I was working on the garden and I was looking at the maze.
"Zach" I heard Newt. I looked at him. "You alright?" He asked. I shook my head yes.
"Ok" we continued working on the garden.
*time skip*
It was lunch time and I was eating at the pits.
Newt was sitting with Chuck at the hammocks and they were talking while eating.
I couldn't keep my eyes off of Newt. I don't know why but I just can't. He saw me staring and I looked away. I continued eating.
I then heard someone walking over and then sit next to me. I looked and saw Newt.
We started talking while eating.
"So... what's out there?" I asked. "Don't know" he said.
"Only the runners know"
"But there is something that you should stay away from" "what is it?"
"We call them Grievers. Big monsters that are trying to kill you. Don't come out during the day. Only at night but that's when the doors close"
"That means that the runners have to get back before night. Right?" I asked. "Yep. Or they are stuck out there for the night. And nobody survives a night in the maze" he explained.
I got nervous. "So do not go out there Zach. Or there will be consequences" I sighed and looked at the doors.
"Do you understand me?" I shook my head yes.
We continued eating.
*time skip*
It was late at night and we were in the hammocks. I was staring at the doors and Newt noticed.
"Is it actually a maze?" "Yes" he whispered.
I sighed.
"Is there another way out?" "Nope. Only the maze"
I sighed and laid my head down. "Night Zach" "Night Newt" I closed my eyes and fell asleep.
*few days later*
I was working on the garden when I suddenly wanted to do something bad. Nothing specific just something really bad. Like something that I'm not supposed to do.
I looked at the doors and knew that's exactly what I wanted to do.
I dropped my shovel and walked to the doors. I saw Newt running over.
"Don't go out there Zachy"
"I'm not going to"
"Ok. Let's go back to work"
"Um.... ok I'll be over in a minute" he got confused but he shrugged and walked back to the garden.
Minho and Ben ran over.
