We continue our drive to Dustin's house when he tells us that he found some kind of slug in his trash a few days ago. He didn't know what it was, so he thought he discovered some kind of new species. Turns out the thing grew extremely fast and turned into a small Demogorgon.

"Wait a sec. How big?" Steve asks after a moment of silence.

"First it was like that." Dustin holds pointer finger and thumb apart, about the size of a small 3 Musketeers. "Now he's like this." He holds both of his hands apart, about the size of a small dog.

"Jeez." I whisper with a shake of my head.

"I swear to God, man, It's just some little lizard, okay?" Steve shakes his head.

"It's not a lizard." Dustin argues.

"How do you know?" I ask.

"How do I know if it's not?"

"How do you know it's not just a lizard?"

"Because his face opened up and he ate my cat."

That shut us up. Steve nods his head and I mimic. Not long after, we arrive at Dustin's house and we get out. Steve grabs the bat from the bed of my truck and I grab the ax. I've stored the ax in there just in case.

We grab flashlights and head around to the side of the house where the storm cellar is. It's locked up. We stand there listening for something inside.

"I don't hear shit." Steve says as he stares at the cellar doors.

"He's in there." Dustin assures as he gestures to the cellar.

We look at each other before Steve gently knocks on the faded red cellar doors with the bat. We listen for a moment, hearing nothing. Steve bangs on the doors louder. Nothing.

Steve turns and shines the flashlight in Dustin's face. "Alright, listen, kid. I swear, if this is some sort of Halloween prank, you're dead."

"It's not." Dustin mumbles squinting his eyes at the brightness of the flashlight. "It's not a prank." He gives up and closes his eyes, attempting to move his head out of the light. "Get it out of my face." Steve ignores him.

"Hey, shitbird, you got a key for this thing or what?" I ask Dustin as I nod my head in the direction of the cellar doors.

Dustin grabs the key and we open the doors. Steve grabs his bat and looks into the dark depths below.

"Scared?" I tease as I squat next to him, also staring into the darkness.

"Psh. No." Steve obviously lies as Dustin shines his light down the stairs. Steve grabs the light and looks for a moment, seeing nothing.

"He must be further down there." Dustin says from behind us. "I'll stay up here in case he tries to escape." He says, cowardice taking over.

Steve and I slowly turn our heads to Dustin, a deadpan expression on our faces before Steve shakes his head and we make our way down.

Once we make it to the end of the staircase, we use our flashlights to look around. Steve notices a light and turns it on.

"Oh." I cringe as I see something Steve was about to step in. "Watch out."

He notices it and uses the bat to pick it up. It seems like some kind of shedded skin. It's slimy and absolutely disgusting. I turn my focus to the tunnel dug into the wall.

"Shit." I murmur. Steve looks at me before following my gaze to the hole in the wall.

"Steve? Y/n?" I hear Dustin call. Steve and I look at each other with worried faces, dread pooling in the pit of our stomaches. "Guys, what's going on down there?" Dustin asks.
