"Some company?"
I kept my eyes on the scenery right in front of me, not giving a glance to the person who just spoke. On the contrary to El Suelo, our Kingdom is peaceful and quiet at night. The stone pathways are empty, the torchlit street lights glowed faintly, only a few people are outside and a flowery scent surrounded the Kingdom.
"I'm sorry." Ate stood beside me, a meter away from where I'm standing. I glanced at her and held out my hand which she quickly took and pulled me close to her.
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have lashed out like that. It was selfish of me to say those words to you. Pasensya na ate" I whispered as she hugged me tight while combing my hair smoothly. Pinakawalan niya ako sa yakap at tinignan nang mabuti. She looked at me with so much fondness reflecting in her eyes as she shook her head slowly.
"You have every right to be mad at us. Naging makasarili kami dahil akala namin ay kaya ka naming itago mula sa mundong ito. We wanted you to live a normal life, away from the chaos this country would bring" She said those words as if it pained her know that there ain't going back now.
The people have already discovered about the hidden Princess. No matter how peaceful this Kingdom is, it is not free of all the lies and treachery. We became silent for a while, looking straight ahead, where the crescent moon glowed brightly. Until I realised that I should ask her about the vision I saw right before we had our argument.
"Ate, I saw a weird vision. It was when our family was forced to flee the Kingdom." She looked taken aback at what I just said. I told her everything that I saw and she looked at me seriously, taking everything in. When I finished, she let out a heavy sigh and smiled at me sadly.
"We were training. Traq, Rav and me. Both of them were sparring while I watched wearing a grin on my face because Traq was losing. Rav was always so much better than him. But then Lieutenant Alderidge suddenly went inside our training room and shouted orders, saying that we need to bring our swords and run as fast as we can to the King and Queen's chambers. I stubbornly told him that it's forbidden and that we'll get in trouble if we follow him but he quickly grabbed my sword from its case and placed it on my hand saying 'There's going to be a dead Princess if you won't follow'. He was a man of honor, and he risked everything to protect the royal family." Her eyes reflected so much pain as she reminisced the memory.
"And you were a pain in the ass" she laughed softly and messed up my hair.
"I was, was I? Traq had to drag me while running because I was still hesitant to go. But then we heard a loud crash from outside. We very well knew what the sound was, it was from a cannon. It was then I realised that we were under attack."
"And then you started running" she smiled widely while I laughed at her. I almost can't believe that they went through all of that.
"Yeah, I did. The four of us ran like hell was chasing us. I kept on thinking how far mama and papa's chamber because I knew that the enemies would've out numbered us. Our people are peaceful, only some are taught how to fight and it is forbidden to use magic in violence. People were screaming and the loud booming of the canons was deafening. When we arrived, mama was holding a baby in her arms and I didn't had the chance to ask her about it because we started running again, through the doorway that was found in their chamber. It was for emergencies and I had always hoped that there wouldn't be a need to use it. But there we were, the royal family of El He Chizo running for our lives." She stopped and looked at the Kingdom below us.
I could tell how it pained her to think about that moment, and I wanted to stop her from talking any further, regret washing over me like a tidal wave but I know that it would be better if we'll have this conversation. Sometimes, it's better to talk about the painful memory just so it wouldn't have a power over you.
