As I pulled into the station, I looked over at Rylie. She looked so defeated. I pulled into my parking spot and rounded the car. I opened her door and helped her out as Seth followed. I kept my arm around her as we walked in and went up to the fourth floor.

"Give me just a second." I said to her as I walked to an intern's desk that was just a few feet away. "Put out a BOLO on Grayson Davis."

"What should it say?" The intern asked without even looking at me.

"Wanted." I said trying to get his attention.

"Dead or alive?" He said trying to be funny, not realizing the woman this man beat for the last six years was standing behind me. I snapped as I slammed my hands down on his desk and pushed it back pinning him between his desk and the wall. He sure as shit looked at me then.

"Alive," I growled out, "Wanted for attempted manslaughter, domestic violence, assault, battery, rape, stalking, harassment and really pissing me the FUCK OFF!" I ended up screaming by the end of my rant.

The intern's eyes were huge as he choked out, "Y...yes sir."

I walked back to Rylie and took her hand as I led her and Seth to my office. As we stepped inside, Austin was sitting at his desk waiting for me.

"This is my partner, Austin." I said introducing him. "Austin, this is Rylie and Seth."

I walked over to one of the filing cabinets behind my desk and pulled out a black 'Miami PD' t-shirt. I opened the next drawer down and searched through my sweatpants until I found the pair with the drawstring. I walked back to Rylie. She looked down at the floor with her arms crossed. She looked so ashamed.

"Rylie." I said softly. She slowly looked up at me. "Do you want to change? You don't have to. I just want you to be comfortable."

She nodded and reached out for the clothes. I put them in her hands and showed her to the private bathroom that was connected to our office.

"Thank you, Nick." she said softly. I closed the door behind her once she stepped inside.

"What's going on?" Austin asked. He can read me well. We have worked side by side for almost seven years.

I turned around and walked over to his desk and sat down in the chair next to Seth. "Domestic violence case." I simply said. Austin looked from me to Seth, then back to me. "A really fucking messed up case." I said quietly as I rubbed my head.

"Seth, how much do you know?" I asked him without looking at him.

"Everything. She told me everything as we drove out here."

"I want you to stay here and fill Austin in on what the past six years have been like for Rylie. I'm going to take her with me to the conference room and get the paperwork started." I said.

"Ok." He said as the bathroom door opened.

I turned around and gave her a small smile. She looked much more comfortable now in my clothes. I have to admit I liked the sight of it. I stood up and walked over to her. I took her dress and put it on a hanger, then hung it off of the filing cabinet so it wouldn't wrinkle. Picking up my computer and my phone I said, "We are going to go to a different room to do some paperwork. Seth and Austin are going to stay here and talk, if that's ok with you."

She nodded. I led her into the conference room. There was a couch with a coffee table in there, and that is where we set up. Rylie stayed standing as she looked out the large picture window. The sun was starting to set and gave her a warm glow as she leaned on the window sill.

"Why didn't you tell me as soon as you knew I was a detective?" I asked.

"I wanted a normal life. I didn't want to deal with him anymore. Just move and move on. Apparently we didn't move far enough."
