Saturday 10:15

With the window cracked open and the sun beaming into your bedroom, you laid in bed reading your favorite book as you gently swayed your legs opposite from each other in the air. You read eagerly as the main character, Diana Faust, was swept off her feet by a charming young man known as John Gray as they locked eyes and a brief moment later they shared a tender kiss. You rolled your eyes a bit but deep down you wished there was someone like that out there for you, someone to sweep you off your feet when you were in danger. Before you could continue reading you heard a knock at the door, assuming it was someone advertising you ignored it and glanced at the ceiling. “Y/n! Your friend Matthew is here!” After a moment your mom called your name and you jumped to the edge of the bed nearly throwing the book across the room, you slipped a bookmark between the pages and closed it, gently setting it on your bed as you bolted out of the room and practically flew down the stairs. As you hopped the last step you walked casually towards the door, opening it slowly you were met by a friendly smile. “Hey y/n, I know it’s been a while since we last talked, but I was wondering if you wanted to hang out?” He said in a slightly unsure voice, but you smiled at his awkwardness. “Yeah sure Matt, what’ll it be?” He perked up a bit. “I was thinking we could take a walk around the neighborhood, maybe to the park?” “Yeah sure, just let me get ready.” He smiled. “Yeah of course.” You gently closed the door and trotted to the stairs, your mom spoke up from the kitchen. “You know honey, Matthew seems like a sweet guy, someone like that is hard to come by.” You paused, your hand on the wall, you took a step back to look at your mom, and then your eyes drifted to the floor as you let out a sigh. “Mom I- I don’t want to talk about relationships right now. Besides, we’re just friends.” Your mom turned around to look at you. “I’m sorry honey, I understand. I hope you and Matthew have fun.” She smiled warmly with a smile only a great mother could achieve. You returned the smile and walked upstairs. “I’ll try.” After you gave your mom and dad hugs you walked out the door and closed it behind you, walking with Matthew to the park.

As you and Matthew walked along the sidewalk, cracking jokes and having a good time, you eventually drifted into your own thoughts and started to think about what your mom said. You’ve known Matthew for a long time, and you’ve grown quite close to him, but you never thought of him as more than a friend. But maybe.. You’re just afraid. Afraid to get hurt. Afraid to leap blindly into love. Afraid to tell him the truth. Wait, no.. This is Matthew you’re talking about not.. Him. You managed to shake yourself from your thoughts as you and Matthew walked around town, you stopped to get some ice cream, something you weren’t expecting, and then you went to the park. As you and Matthew took a break on a bench you checked your watch, it was nearly 2 already. “Wow, I guess time flies pretty fast, huh?” you chuckled as you looked up at the sky. “Yeah, sure does.” Matthew replied. You glanced around, a slight fear that Tyler might show up started to creep into your thoughts, or worse, William. Matthew glanced at you, taking your worry into consideration. “Hey, you alright?” You sighed. “I just don’t know how to handle all of this..” He furrowed his brows in confusion. “What do you mean?” He asked calmly. You looked up at the sky with a distressed expression. “With Tyler after me, and not knowing if I can trust William, i’m not sure if I feel safe in my hometown anymore.” Matthew looked at the ground with sympathy, then looked over at you. “Have you told your parents?” You looked at him. “Yeah, we’re moving back to California in a few days.” Matthew looked shocked. “R-really? So soon? You just barely got settled in, and now you’re leaving?” You sighed and smiled softly, hearing the sincerity in his voice. “I can’t handle being here anymore, my parents think it’s too dangerous. My dad is also leaving for the Military, which means we have to move anyway. I really wish I could stay.” You looked at Matthew, one of your friends. One of the few people you can trust. “When are you leaving?” He said in a somewhat defeated tone. “Thursday,” You said simply. “but i’m not sure if I feel safe in my own house anymore.” Matthew looked down at his hands and thought for a moment, then looked back at you. “I could stay over, just until you leave anyway.” You looked up at him and smiled. “Thank you Matt, i’ll just have to check in with my parents. But are you sure your grandparents will be ok with it?” “Yeah of course they will, they let me stay over at friends’ houses a lot.” You smiled. “Thank you Matthew, this means a lot to me.” “No problem, hey do you mind if I take you home?” You chuckled a bit. “Not at all.”

As you stopped in the driveway your mom pulled in, parking and getting out of the car she smiled at you. “Hey you two, did you have fun?” You smiled. “We did. Hey mom, I was wondering if Matthew could stay over for a few nights, until we leave for California.” Your mom thought for a moment as she closed the car door and locked it. “I don’t mind letting him stay, your father will be leaving tomorrow morning anyway since he was told to come early.” You smiled. “Alright, thanks mom.” You turned to Matthew. "I'll see you tonight then." He smiled warmly in return. "Cool, see you later alligator." He chirped as he began walking down the street. "In a while crocodile!" You called after him, feeling good you went inside to clean up. Things were going good, soon you wouldn't have to see him again.

Hey guys! I know this chapter was a bit shorter than usual but I just wanted to get something out to you. I'll be making the chapters longer, but that means you guys will have to be a bit more patient. Thank you for all your support! 💕
