To make up for being such a dimwit, Freddie decided to take Leo out on a proper date. He texted Leo when he first woke up, dinner tonight? Leo replied yes right away and Freddie spent about five minutes fretting about where to take him before he remembered Leo had driven twenty minutes just to see him at nine pm. He'd probably be fine wherever they went. Still Freddie remembered his dads advice about food and how he had talked so lovingly about the meal they had on their first date.

He ended up taking Leo to his favourite restaurant. It was a sushi place on a main road with a sign that looked like it was made in clip art, but the food was amazing. Just down the road from Leo's high school it had a cheep lunch special so it was often frequented by senior students during the day. The dinner menu was a little more expensive, which meant it was quiet in the evening apart from people working late at the office building near by stopping in for some takeaway.

They sat down in against the wall, near the window, watching the traffic go by and Freddie was sure he'd nailed it. But just in case he thought he'd better check.

"How'm I doing?" he asked wiggling his eyebrow for effect.

Leo tried to deliberately ignore him but Freddie could see the small lift of his lips before he pulled the menu up in front of his face.

"How's Georgie's arm?" Leo asked.

"She's good its not hurting as much so now she just really wants to take the sling off all the time, it's a bit like putting a muzzle on a shark."

"Or a lion," Leo said.

"Or a lizard," Freddie teased. "She's been asking about you by the way?"

"I can make another video," Leo suggested.

"Or you could come over," Freddie said.

Leo raised an eyebrow.

"I mean it, we do family dinner on Sunday you should come," Freddie said not really considering implications.

Leo almost dropped the menu but before Freddie could question it a bored looking waitress appeared at their table demanding attention.

"Hey Midi," Freddie said.

"What'd you want? Usual?" she asked in her standard blunt language.

He looked at Leo.

"Whatever's good," Leo said.

Freddie turned back to Midi, "double it up."

She nodded.

"How is school?" she asked relaxing out of work mode into something else.

"It's alright," Freddie said. "How's business?"

"Good but you don't visit," she said.

"I'll come more if Leo likes it so give it your best," Freddie said.

She turned and looked at Leo nodding as she spoke, "you like it."

Leo gave Freddie a question look as Midi walked away.

"I used to come here a lot in high school," Freddie explained.

"Oh," Leo said his face falling a little.

Freddie was about to ask what was wrong when the bell on the door had him looking up to see a bunch of familiar faces walking through the door.
