Freddie sat on the same garden wall he'd shared a coffee with Leo months ago. It felt like a lifetime. He remembered spending days wondering whether he should have hugged him goodbye, now all Freddie wanted was to hold Leo and never let go. The uncertainty roared around him as he tapped his foot against the concrete sick of waiting but stuck until finally a figure flew into his view hurtling towards him. Freddie stood instinctively, desperate to move closer to Leo but with all the strength he had he planted his feet and stayed. Leo had told him to wait so he did.

Too quickly and not quickly enough Leo arrived in front of Freddie, panting heavily, brow shining with sweat. Freddie wanted to reached out and touch but something stopped him. He thought about the pictures. The way people had always talked about him. The way people were now talking about Leo. He couldn't help the hesitation, it was momentary but Leo must have noticed because a flash of pain flickered across his face. That was enough to pull Freddie out of his head a spurn him into action. As Leo paused moving to take a step back Freddie pushed past the hesitation, wrapped a hand around Leo's neck and pulled him into a kiss. He expected shock, or at least some kind of delayed response but Leo melted into Freddie like he'd been expecting him to kiss him. Freddie couldn't stop himself from smiling against Leo's lips, which brought their kiss to an unfortunately early end. They broke apart, foreheads resting against each other, smiling like they'd achieved something.

"Hey," Freddie said.

"Hey," Leo replied.

"You're really sweaty," Freddie said.

Leo laughed, finally pulling away from Freddie. "Had an unexpected work out."

"Yeah," Freddie said suddenly struck by the reminder of why they'd been chasing each other around campus all morning.

Reality seem to hit Leo at the same time and he took the tiniest step back, moving his hands from Freddie's neck to his cheeks eyes scanning his face like there might be a signs of injury. Eventually his eyes locked with Freddie's.

"Are you okay?" he asked dripping with sincerity.

Freddie couldn't help the small burst of laughter that escaped.

"Sorry," Freddie said regaining composure.

Leo's face furrowed further in concern and Freddie felt his gut soften with affection.

"Are you okay?" Freddie asked.

"Fine," Leo replied dismissively.

Raising an eyebrow, Freddie waited for something more.

"I'm fine," Leo insisted.

Freddie wanted to argue, push Leo to talk but he needed time and they needed space.

"We should talk," Freddie said.

A hint of pain flickered across Leo's face again and Freddie could stop himself from leaning forward and pressing a quick kiss to Leo's lips. Short and sweet the kiss smoothed the creases in Leo's face a little.  Leo sighed a little and his features shifted towards determination.

"We SHOULD talk," Freddie said interrupting Leo before he could start what was sure to be long conversation. "But we have to move first."

Leo's lips curled in question.

"It's just Nikki and Tim said they'd leave us alone but I'm ninety perfect sure they're watching from somewhere?"

As he spoke he looked around curiously in he might catch them unawares but he couldn't see them. Still he knew they were somewhere near by. His focus return to Leo when a hand slipped into his.

"Where's your car?" Leo asked.

"Car park."

Without waiting for a response Leo turned and started to run again dragging Freddie along behind him. Freddie groaned at the exertion, but quickly matched pace. He was pretty sure Nikki and Tim wouldn't actually chase them but it was nice to run together after running towards each other all morning. He turned to look at Leo, smiling at their hands clasped together and thought maybe everything would be okay after all.
