"I wasn't stealing from the government funds" I huff

"Then what were you doing taking money out of it and giving it to me James Reynolds" Jefferson asks confused by my statement

"You wouldn't want to know" I say

"It's either tell us or get fired and maybe killed" Burr states

"Okay fine! Whilst my wife was away with our children, Maria Reynolds came to means we may have, done it. Her husband found out and then blackmailed me I to giving him money, and if I didn't he would tell everyone what I had done" I admit

"I don't believe you" Jefferson mocks

I walk over to the draw I placed the letter in and gave it to him, "believe me now?"

"My god" he sighs

"Just don't tell anyone. I didn't do anything wrong"

"Apart from sleeping with another women, one that isn't your wife and that had a husband already" Madison comments

"Oh shut it" I spit, "now can you all leave my house, you've got what you wanted"

After throwing my books on the floor with the letter they leave.

I don't know what I would do if this gets out.
