"Are you ready for the next part of the story?" I ask my children who are tucked into their beds once again.

They nod, it almost looks like their heads are about to fall off.

I laugh at their excited behaviour, "Alright, the following day I got a letter. Do you want to guess who from?"

"PAPA!" Bella giggles

"Yep" I smile

(Flashback)

As the morning sun rises through the small gap in the curtains a loud knock echos through the silent  house. I swing my legs over the bed and grab my robe from the hook near the door. I open the door to a small young boy.

"Morning mam, your post for today" he smiles handing me two letters.

"Thank you" I smile back.

As he starts to walk back down the stair I close the door and go into the kitchen and grab the pot of water so I can place it on the fire to boil it. Once that is done I sit at the table and open the letters.

The first one is from Alexander.

Dearest (y/n),

As you know I'm heading to war soon to bring freedom to America, because of this I'm invited to the Winters Ball at the Schuyler mansion which is in a couple of days. It would be my honour to have you accompany me to such an event.

To see your smile whilst we float around the floor would make going off to war a bit easier as then I know why I have to get back.

Please write back, even if it's a no.

From yours only,

A.Ham

I smile widely at the letter. I grab a piece of paper and my ink and quill and write my reply. Of course it was a yes, I also wrote to him saying to meet tomorrow at three so we can walk around the town and talk. I fold the paper up and put it in an envelope and write his address on the front. I dish outside to put it in the letter box for when the boy come back for post.

Now the second letter.

Before I open it foot steps make the floors creak slightly signifying that my mother was awake.

"Morning love, don't forget that pot of water on the fire" she chuckles as I rush over to the fire before it boils over.

I take it off of the fire and on the counter. I make two cups of tea and place them down on the table.

"I see that handsome young man has wrote you" she smirks whilst sipping on her tea.

I blush slightly as I now know she's read it, "y-yeah"

"Well what did you say back. It would be a shame if you said no"

"I said yes of course, I also asked if he wanted to go out for a bit tomorrow" I reply  drinking my drink too.

She smiles and wiggles her eyebrows.

"What?" I roll my eyes

"Can you too just get together already, I'm not going to live forever" she jokes
