I stared blankly at the moon from inside my two story house. It was waning, almost half a moon now. I marveled at its beauty, how it always diligently rose up as the sun went to sleep to give us the little light it had, to illuminate our dark nights. But now it was getting weak again, the light it gave becoming less, until it eventually the darkness smothered it for a few nights. But it always returned.
I marveled at the beautiful night sky, so many stars, so many mysteries. Sometimes I was glad I lived in a small town away from the big cities and lights. I could see the milky way and all the little stars inbetween.
Sometimes I hated being in a small town. I sighed and turned away from the window, shutting the curtains behind me. I heard a lone wolf howl, it's eerie tune sending chills down my spine. The howl was soon replied to, several wolves howls creating a haunting melody of shifting tones, sending more chills down my spine.
I wrapped a blanket around me, feeling cold. I wondered how the wolf could be so beautiful yet haunting, a pack member but alone at the same time.
I felt like that lone wolf sometimes. Always calling for it's pack, it's home, but never able to find it. Sometimes I wished I could be a wolf, but that would never happen.
I peeked out my window one last time before going to bed, and saw a shooting star. I smiled.
I wish I could befriend a wolf.
I slipped into bed, pulling the covers close to me, and fell asleep.

Yeah it's a little slow. But trust me. Just trust me.
