Things to take note of in differences between Original version and this rewrite-
Now after the battle at her high school Taylor can't go back, so we're left to discover why her school was attacked and it's not just because of Loki.
Also, I hope you enjoyed our first intro to Billy and Tommy. They'll play a bigger role here and I've sort of rewritten the timeline in which they're lost.
This is a chapter filled with dialogue and emotion, cause every chapter can't be fun and light-hearted or battle scenes.
When Taylor had gotten back to the tower Tony had dragged her to the med bay and forced her to get the wound on her forehead caused by the sprinkler healed. It took 5 minutes with the crib that been designed by Helen Cho years ago.
She'd been sitting on the couch in the living room of Tony's floor for the past 20 minutes. She could barely hear the argument going on between Tony and Pepper a few doors down. They'd gone into their room to discuss a few things when she'd come up from the med bay after getting a tight hug from Pepper before they disappeared into their room.
She hadn't caught many of the words that the two had exchanged. Though that wasn't a shock, Tony had probably built the tower with soundproofing in mind or at least noise dampers.
She'd been trying to read one of the books Tony had gotten her the day before but she'd been on the same page the entire time, having difficulty not to get distracted or lose her focus as she thought back on the dream she'd had last night and the events of today. Nothing fit together. It was like she had a bunch of random puzzle pieces and she couldn't tell if they all belonged to the same puzzle or not.
Her head snapped up when she heard the click and pop of the door finally opening and Tony and Pepper walking outside by side. She tried not to take note of how stiff and unsure they looked as they walked towards her, shooting each other worried glances, and how Tony carried a file in his left hand.
"So?" Taylor asked, her voice low. Were they gonna kick her out? They were gonna kick her out. Why else would they be like this?
Tony let out a sigh and fell back into the couch, placing the file on the cushion beside him and running his hand through his hair and pushing it back as Pepper lightly settled herself onto the couch and rested her right hand on Tony's left knee, giving a shy reassuring smile to her husband.
"Listen, kid," Tony started, his eyes clearly avoiding Taylor's own, "Me and Pepper were talking and..."
"You're kicking me out," Taylor interrupted, "I understand. You thought you could easily take in a 17-year-old and have no problems," she mumbled before standing up. "I'll go repack what I'd taken out of boxes."
"Taylor...." Pepper started, clearly trying to keep this simple.
"No. It's fine I get it. I've brought so much trouble to you two in the past two days it's the best thing to do," Taylor bluntly replied, "I'm not worth the trouble. I'll try and find some way to pay you back for the books."
"Kid...." Tony began.
"Don't call me kid!" Taylor snapped, her voice breaking as she stopped, her fists clenched in frustration before she whipped her head around to face him. The tears visibly building up in her eyes, "You don't get to call me that when you kick me out! I was happy with Jessica and Luke! And now I can't even go back without putting Danielle at risk! I'm leaving, ok? Don't make this harder for me then it already is. This morning things were looking up, it seemed like this could be my new normal with time! I don't need an apology or explanation! I never have when it's just a waste of time!"
