Kageyama's POV
After the three on three game was over, classes were due to start. After picking up my jumper, I started walking to the clubroom, Hinata in tow, bouncing along as he praised the new first years. I wasn't really paying attention, keeping the jumper over my arms and holding them close to my stomach. What am I doing? I should tell him. Why won't the words come out? He managed to tell me his problem why can't I return that? We've been together nearly a year. Damn coward. Stupid. Murderer. A threat to society. I shouldn't be here. What am I doing? Why am I still living? Why-"Kageyamaaa~" I snapped from my thoughts when I heard him. Looking up from the floor, I stopped walking, noticing Hinata now in front of me. What confused me was the worried look his facial features held. "K-Kageyama?... W-Why are you crying?..." My breath hitched, my fingers moving to touch my cheeks and coming away damp. Quickly using my jumper, I wiped my face and put up the front, I knew was cracking but needed to have.
"Dust. Let's go or we'll be late." Without another word, I walked past Hinata, internally screaming at myself for being so dismissive to the person I love. Hinata followed but he wasn't as giddy as he was earlier. I knew he was worried about me and I knew he was trying to be patient with me. But at the same, I know it's only a matter of time before the reality of what I did kicked in for him and he left me in the dirt to rot. Like I should've done from that day onward....~Time Skip~
Lunch break was the same as it used to be. Hinata and I met up outside my classroom and ate before going to the gym to practice together like we used to. We didn't speak at all but we didn't need to. The silence was loud enough for me. As we were tossing the ball to each other, the conversation I had with my mother last night popped into my head reminding me of something.
"Tangerine?" That was the first word I spoke as I set the ball into the air sending it to Hinata.
"Everything okay?" Hinata asked as he set the ball back to me.
"Do you want to come over tonight? My father is coming home today from his training camp." I asked, setting the ball again.
Hinata caught the ball as he replied. "Chikara is coming back? I've only met him twice so it'd be nice to see him again." I felt my heart melt when I saw Hinata smiling happily. "Of course I will. One sec." Catching the ball he threw back at me, I watched as Hinata went to his bag and pulled his phone out - presumably to let Anze know he would be staying at my place."Mom said it's okay." Hinata said cheerily as he stood back up. "Can you toss to me? I wanna get some receiving practice in before our last class."
Obliging, I hit the ball in his direction - the weakest of smiles on my lips when he cleanly received it. I kept hitting the ball back to him, adjusting the angle every so often. He missed a few times but that was expected of him. Even with his newly formed split step technique he was still clumsy. But I was proud he'd managed to work on his receiving. Eventually the first bell rang, signalling classes were due to start soon.
"Cya later." I said catching the ball and turning to get my bag.
"U-um... K-Kags?..." I glanced over my shoulder after picking my bag up, noticing Hinata's blush as he looked down."What's the- Hm-!" I started as I turned around, but was cut off when I felt a pair of lips crash onto mine. Upon instinct, I wrapped my arms around Hinata's body, keeping him held still to stop him from falling back to the ground. After a couple of seconds, I pulled away and looked down into at Hinata who had his legs and arms wrapped around my torso. I blushed slightly and carefully put him back on his feet, a slight hiss of pain leaving through my teeth when he gripped my arm in a specific area.
I noticed Hinata raise an eyebrow but I turned and went back to class before he could ask questions. I'm such a fool. Why do I torture myself? Why am I so scared to just get rid of myself?! I deserve to go...
With my thoughts running wild, I headed to my classroom. As I was going into the classroom however, I bumped into something, or should I say, someone. The soft chuckle that left the person's mouth sent shivers down my spine and not in the good way. "Well if it isn't the brilliant Tobio Kageyama."
I looked up, the blonde hair and the lanky figure, a scowl on my face as my bangs covered one of my eyes. "Not now Zanko." My tone was cold as I shoved past the Male but was stopped when he gripped my collar.
"You can't just walk away from me like that. My brother and I want to have some fun with you tomorrow~. And a word of warning, if you don't comply, the shortie gets it got that?" My breath caught in my throat for a moment before my anger started to build. Without thinking, I gripped Zanko's collar and glared they sharpest daggers I could at him. "You lay a hand on my boyfriend again and I swear to Asahi you'll never see the light of day again." The room was deathly silent for several seconds, my glare not faltering."That does sound like something a murderer would say. How typical. You shouldn't be here and you know it." Zanko's voice was hushed but he held a grin on his lips. At his words, my eyes widened and I dropped him instantly.
Hiding my eyes with my hair, I went to my seat without another word, the only thing ringing in my ears were the silent whispered that echoed in the deafening silence.
