Kageyama's POV
Morning came by way too quickly. The warmth of the sun on my cheek made me furrow my brows and hug Hinata tighter as I buried my face in his neck and felt my fingers run across Itazura's tattoo form on his back. I didn't want to get up. I didn't want to go to school today. I just didn't feel like it. After the emotional trauma I've been through over the last few days I just didn't want to go. I didn't want to face that again. I couldn't.
"Tobio." I heard Hinata's voice speak softly.
I hummed in response, my face still buried in his neck.
"We have to get up."
"No I don't want to..." I grumbled, hugging Hinata tighter making him sigh a little.
I felt his fingers tangle in my hair softly making me hum in delight. I'll never understand why I love having my hair played it. It was the most calming feeling ever to me.
Hinata continued to brush his fingers through my hair in silence and I almost fell back to sleep again until a loud thud followed by an "ow-" was heard just outside my door.
I jumped up a little and looked towards my locked door.
"Father? Are you alright?" I asked, recognising the male voice.
"Yes son, I'm fine. Just tripped over an excited Roiyariti." He replied.
I was going to respond but I heard his heavy footsteps walking down the stairs so I went back to hugging the orange haired spiker, once again feeling his fingers in my hair.

"You can go back to sleep for an hour if you want Tobio. I just remembered we don't have practice this morning." Hinata said. I silently  praised hallelujah but I once again got lost in the feeling of my hair being played with.
My eyelids slowly closed and I blacked out with Hinata's scent and touch overwhelming me once again.

Hinata's POV
I knew he needed the rest. And I understood why he didn't want to leave. With how hard it had been lately for him it makes sense as to why he wouldn't want to go back to school. But even I knew he had to keep going. Things wouldn't get better if he didn't push through it. And it doesn't matter if he knows it or not, it doesn't matter how unkind or cruel the world gets, I will be beside him to support and love him with everything I have. Because, whilst volleyball and school are high priorities, they will always and forever come after Tobio. He will forever be first on my priority list.

And that's how it's always going to be. So knowing I was able to lull him back to sleep again made me smile softly.
I pressed a light kiss to his cheek. "I love you Tobio. Don't ever forget, you're invincible as long as you're with me." I whispered into his ear before I slowly drifted to sleep again myself.

~Time Skip~

I was first to wake up again after roughly forty five minutes. I looked at the clock and noticed it was only 8:45am. It only took fifteen minutes to walk to school from Kageyama's house and our first class didn't start until half nine. My gaze shifted down to look at my still sleeping setter, his face so soft as he slept so calmly. Even in his sleep it was clear he'd been struggling for a long time. There were near black bags residing under his eyes and his skin looked much paler than it used to. He had slight stubble growing on his cheeks and it couldn't help but run my thumb over it, giggling silently when it tickled a little.

But I knew I had to wake him up even if I didn't want to.
So placing a hand on his shoulder, I gently shook his body. "Tobio. Come on we have to get up now." I spoke softly making sure not to startle him. I let out a soft giggle when I felt his grip on me tighten.

However with enough persuading, I was eventually able to get Tobio to roll out of the bed to change along with myself. I couldn't help but frown seeing his scarred and tattered chest as we slipped into our uniforms, before the both of us brushed our teeth and slowly made our way downstairs.
We stayed in silence but it didn't matter. At this point it was just the two of us in the house.
From what it could be seen, Chikari had gone out to do extra training with Roiyariti and Shiruku had left to go to work as usual.

As we used to, we each grabbed an item of fruit along with our bags before leaving the house to walk to school. We had twenty minutes to go but it didn't matter. However it was surprising at how hot it actually was. The both of us were wearing our blazers and were practically dripping with sweat.
As I was taking my blazer off, I took note of Kageyama doing the same which surprised me.
I raised an eyebrow to which he noticed. He was about to answer but was cut off when someone suddenly ran into him.

Looking down the both of us saw a little girl with long, messy black hair and bright orange eyes.
"S-sorry-" the girl started before she looked up and jumped back in fright seeing Kageyama's scary looking expression. "Eek!"

Immediately I jumped into action and stood between them.
"Are you alright little one?" I asked. The girl nodded in response before I noticed her look behind me.
"What are those?" She asked, pointing a finger up behind me. Following her pointed finger I noticed she was pointing to the scars on Kageyama's wrists. I gulped unsure of what to say until Kageyama suddenly spoke up for me.

"They're battle scars." He said in such a modest tone as if it wasn't a big deal.
"You've been in a war?" The little girl asked. I took note of a small twinkle in her eye.
"A very long and hard one.." Tobio mumbled back.
"Woah! That's so cool. Can I have some too?!" The little girl suddenly asked making me freeze.
But I glanced up to Tobio and almost felt my heart stop when I noticed the soft look in his eyes as he kneeled down in front of the girl.

"No you don't ever want these. But.... can you promise me something?" Kageyama asked, his face much softer than the scary expression he had earlier.
"What?" The girl asked with wonder.
"If you see anyone with battle scars, give them a hug okay? Can you promise me that?" I honestly felt my breath leave my throat. Tears pricked my eyes as I noticed his glance towards me along with the softest of smiles.
"Mhm! I promise!" The little girl said making me turn to look back at her.
She rushed forward and hugged Tobio briefly before she said goodbye and ran away down the street.

"Wow Kageyama... that was... beautiful..."
