EJ Caswell "Babe? You seem upset.." I say, looking at her. She glances at me with a forced smile before looking back on the road. We were driving home from the fun night and it seemed as if her mood changed within seconds.
"No no..I'm okay." She puts a hand on my thigh and keeps driving.
"Mm mn. Somethings wrong, what it is?"
"EJ, I'm fine."
I take her hand in mine and intertwine our fingers before kissing her knuckles.
"You sure?" I ask softly. "You know that I don't like it when you don't tell me how you feel."
She gives a small glance, her eyes either full of emotion, or emotionless.
"Fine, uhm." She pulls her hand away and rubs them on her jeans. "I might pull out of Mean Girls."
I sit up straighter. "What? How come baby?"
"I don-..I don't think it's going to go the way I want it to. I might as well just..back out now."
"What do you mean it won't go the way you want it to? It's your dream, you got your dream G."
"I know I know, but...babe, have you been on twitter lately?"
"I-...no." I pull out my phone from my back pocket and click on the app. I click the first thing I see and find myself frowning. "Oh.."

"You replied. That could've been..."
"Bad. I know, but there's nothing in that response that was hurtful."
I turn off my phone. "Don't think much about this. I know that it seems like people don't want-"
"People don't want me playing Regina EJ. If people don't like the person playing Regina, they won't show up to the show, which is unfair to my cast mates who have also worked hard. It just won't work out."
"No, G." I shake my head, "you are not only to be the first black woman to play Regina, but overall, the first person of color! Baby, you're an inspiration. So many girls are going to look up to you and think, 'I can do it too.' Don't you see that you, my love," I chuckle, "are a queen?"
