Ricky Bowen
I hold the small dog in my arms as I grin at the face that was..speechless."Hey Neens," I say, "good morning."
She closes her lips that had parted from such a surprise. "Goo-..good morning Rick."
I hand the dog to Athena who had been petting him for a little while. "So what do you think we should name him Thena?"
"Ooh.." she giggles, "maybe..Oscar? Or.." she struggles to come up with a name, leaving me to just agree.
"I like Oscar. Nini, do you like Oscar?" I smile.
"I-..sure. Yeah Oscar is..great- Ricky can I talk to you?"
"What about?" I smirk.
"Richard.." she states sternly, causing me to roll my eyes and make my way over to her. She takes my hand and pulls me into the bed room, shutting the door lightly. She looks at me with a sigh. "What..the fuck..Ricky? What are you doing?"
"What? I just rescued a little dog for Athena." I explain. "It'll be okay."
"Ricky..you didn't tell me anything about this? And baby, none of us are home half the time. How are we going to take care of a dog?"
"We can bring the dog with us no? For your cafe, they'll have a little friend and with the flower shop, it'll be even cuter. Come on, tell me that isn't just the cutest shit in the world." I grin.
"Babe..we have so much on our schedule. A dog? It's jus-..it's not the best idea in the world. Seriously, I'm trying my very best not to yell at you right now."
"Okay okay," I take her hand, "listen. We have the dog for a week. You still want it gone by then, fine. It's gone but that dog will be the best thing to come and it'll end up staying."
"Oh yeah?"
"Mhm. But I get it if your not a dog person b-"
"Really?! I love dogs, trust me but I'm just stressed. I'm sorry because that dog is very..very cute, but I am also very..very tired." Her frown makes me want to pout like a whiny child just so I can make her smile but I don't. Instead, I kiss her forehead and pull her into my body.
"I know. But Maybe this dog will give us a little more happiness." I pause. "Not that we don't have enough but-"
"I got it Rick." She slightly laughs. "But I hope you have a plan for the dog because.."
"I had to sneak the dog in." I chuckle. "I know they don't allow dogs here Neens."
"Great." She pulls away and bites the inside of her cheek as she looks at me. Quickly she asks the question I didn't want to be asked. "How much was the dog?"
