The group stood at the foot of the dragon mountains waiting for Carella, it was a cold morning and thanks to the mist they couldn't see the top of the mountains but they could see that some of the caves further up had a warm golden light coming from the entrances, making the mountains look like they had tiny stars embedded in the rock face.

"Please watch your tongue Constantine we don't want you being burnt to ash by an angry dragon," Hodge whispered just before The Empress came out of the lower cave with a small boy with red hair following close behind her.

"Welcome to my palace," Carella smiled reaching down to stroke the boys curly hair as he hid behind the golden dragon. "This is Birdy, say hello Birdy,"

Ragamuffin smiled at the young dragon boy as he slowly stepped from behind the empress before quickly saying "Hello," before hiding again.

"He's not used to meeting new people," Carella smiled.

"It's okay Birdy, we're friendly," Ragamuffin smiled but Birdy was looking up at Morag with wide eyes.

"Are you a giant? You're so big,"

"Morag is an orc, Morag is big and strong," The orc said looking down at Birdy, the party expected the young boy to be scared but instead he started laughing.

"One day I hope to be as big as you, and I will turn into a massive dragon that can take care of mountains with my father and sisters. My mother is on a quest at the moment because she's the captain of the guards,"

Hodge noted how sad Carella looked at Birdy's words as the boy ran back into the caves.

"He's such a good boy but we fear he will never get any bigger," The golden dragon sighed as they walked into the cave system. They saw Birdy run up to massive dragon with black and red scales before sitting down next to next to giant creature. "Don't go causing Hunter any trouble,"

The dragon raised his head "My little friend won't cause me any trouble," The dragon voice was low and filled the caves like a rumble. Carella smiled at this as she led the group on.

"Birdy will never grow up, he had a curse put on him by a human mage, he's never left the mountains, I feel bad for that but his dragon form is no bigger than an eagle he won't be able to protect himself," The empress said in a sad tone. "The poor boy still thinks that one day he will grow into a massive warrior like the rest of his family, but he will always be a child but we take care of our own here, and while there's dragons in the mountains Birdy and dragons like him will always have a home,"

"I heard of that curse humans use it on baby dragons so they can be kept as pets," Hodge growled his tone angry that humans could do that. Keep sentient beings in cages for their own amusement.

"It's monstrous, and if I ever catch the mage that did it I will burn him to ash," Carella sneered her golden eyes glinting with anger. "I know the mage's name and one day I will find him,"

"What's his name?" Ragamuffin asked frowning at the injustice that was happening to dragon children.

"Markus, though I don't know where he is from and at last Markus is a common name,"

Prince Constantine looked down avoiding the empress's eyes because he knew Markus was his father's personal mage, he knew that surrounded by dragons it certainly wouldn't be wise to give away that bit of information.
