Look up at the sky and get lost in the stars.

I sat in the edge of the bridge and waited for him to arrive.

Graduation had come and gone three weeks ago and I was glad to finally get that off my shoulders. I had applied for a college in the other part of town that offered a two- year scholarship. I made sure to study really really hard in school so that my grades would be good enough that they'd considered me. Hopefully I will be accepted.

Tomorrow was going to be my birthday. I wasn't the least bit excited for it. I dreaded my birthday the most. It was useless because I never celebrated it, I wasn't allowed to.

My sister on the other hand celebrated her birthday all the time. Though every evening we had our own private party at the back of the house.

There was a secret tunnel that we found when we were kids that led to an open field covered in carpet grasses and flowers. Every night on our birthday we would go to the field and she would share a piece of cake that she had previously snuck out of the refrigerator, with me and we would lie down on the soft grass, the smell of lilies and daisies filling our noses and we would gaze at the stars, talking about random things.

The last time that happened was on our sixteenth birthday. But the day after that, she stopped talking to me entirely.

I don't know if we would still hold that tradition, but after what happened weeks ago, I wasn't so sure.

It was getting chillier by the minute which meant it was well into midnight and there was still no sign of him. I usually stayed out here for an hour or two, being careful so that no one finds out about my nightly adventures. Especially my mom.

I decided to wait a bit longer. Maybe he would still show up.

After what felt like half an hour, I couldn't wait up for him any longer. I didn't have a phone so I couldn't call him or text him. Heck, I didn't even know his name yet. We decided to keep our names out of our conversations, just to be funny. Sad to say it was my idea.

I jumped down from the edge of the bridge wall and slowly made my way back home.

I couldn't help but be a little disappointed.
