Charlotte POV:
I put on my headphones and grab my guitar. With no roommate, no royal duties, no heels, to stop me, I plug my guitar into an amp. I press some fingers down on the strings and raise my hand to the sky, as I let it fall I stop, hearing a thud behind me. I turn around to see Pyrite in his typical golden silk suit. Sighing, I put my guitar down.

Third POV:
Pyrite approaches Charlotte, grabbing her hand to kiss it. Charlotte smiles and rolls her eyes.
“What can I do for you, Pyrite?” She chimes happily.
“I only came to visit my favorite royal,” He responds with his usual silky voice.
“Well, I can’t stop that now, can I?” She unplugs the amp and puts her guitar away, slightly disappointed. Taking off her headphones, she neatly places them on the counter, “Can I get you anything?” She looks back at him, her bright red hair gently bouncing over her shoulders.
At that moment, the raven-haired guy, who is too much fun to write, we all know and tolerate happily, walks in—raising an eyebrow at the scene in front of him, giving a soft growl.
“What is he doing here?” He questions.
“Talking to the most beautiful queen in the realms.” Pyrite states cockily.

Charlotte’s POV:
‘Here we go again,’ I think to myself as the two give murderous glares to each other.
I sit and watch the TV, wanting to avoid the tension. Lynx has been helping me with my magic, and Pyrite is an excellent friend, but if this keeps up, they’ll kill one another.’
As I’m looking at the TV, I get the courage to speak up.
“You two are annoying like this, why do you guys hate each other, anyway?” I look up, to blank stares. The two glance at one another, then back to me, Lynx opening his mouth to say something, only to be interrupted by Pyrite.
“We simply don’t agree on certain things, particularly romantic things.”
Now it’s my turn to stare blankly. I soon start laughing, “Lynx, talking about romance? To anyone? Really?” I manage to get out, “Though, if you’re genuinely fighting over someone, why not make it a competition?”
“A competition, Char, you’re smarter than that,” Lynx says in his usual, edgy boy voice.
“Hear me out, just go into an arena, and fight to the death,” I say as the dorm door opens, behind me.
“What’s going on here?” Ivan’s voice quietly rings out.

Ivan’s POV:
I walk into my sister’s dorm to check on her, seeing two guys with her—both glaring at the other. I know about how they feel, so understanding what’s going on makes me laugh. Though my sister is smart, she can be dense at times, so it might be time for me to step in.
“Char, would you go help the poor math teacher find their glasses, you’re better at finding things,” I smile as she nods and leaves.
“Alright, what was her bright idea?” I look at the two.
“A com-” Pyrite tries to say, but gets interrupted.
“A fight to the death,” Lynx says casually.
“Of course, alright, here’s how we’re going to do this. It’s obvious how you feel about my sister, and as her older brother, it is my job to make sure you boys don’t do something stupid that hurts her.”

Third POV:
Lynx and Pyrite look at each other then back to Ivan, with a questioning look on their face.
“Thanks to science, with a bit of magic, I have a way to test you both, and you won’t have to step out of this room,” Ivan happily states, snapping his fingers. As a small device appears in Ivan’s hands, the room goes white, “I’ve collected data on Char’s thought process, this device will use that data to recreate situations that you will react to, whoever does the best will have a better chance at charming Charlotte.”
“This, thing, will help tell us who is a better fit for her?” Pyrite tilts his head.
“Yep, who wants to go first?” Ivan chirps, too happy to test this device.
“I will,” Pyrite steps up.
Ivan types something into the device and hands a pair of glasses to Pyrite.

Pyrite’s POV:
The room vanishes, and I am suddenly walking side-by-side with Charlotte. A red outline surrounds a puddle, Char is on a direct course to it, not seeing it. As we approach, I gently move her out of the way.
“There’s a puddle there, m’ lady,” I point out softly, and the scene changes. A voice in my head says, “First scenario complete, two more to go.”

Char stands beside me, looking between three structures, a bar, a fancy restaurant, and a taco stand. “I don’t care where we go; I just want to get out of the school.” She looks at me, smiling. The red outline reappears, surrounding the places.
“Let’s go there. I don’t think the other place’s suit a queen like you; I’ll pay for it too,” I say, motioning towards the fancy restaurant. She glances at the place, but the scene changes before I see her reaction. The voice returns, saying, “Second scenario complete, one more to go.”

I’m back at the school, near the pool. I see Charlotte attempting to carry a box, about twice her size. I ask if she needs help a few times, but she keeps insisting on doing it herself.
The red outline appears once more, this time surrounding Char and the box. I ask once more to help; she says no. I decide to leave it at that and respect her decision.
My vision goes white, I blink, and I take off the glasses.
Lynx goes next, but I doubt he can beat me.
